This initiative is great! Hopefully it goes well this year too.
Are there any plans to make a US version of the meetup as well?

Yea I'd love to see this happen since the United States has the most members on the site.

>> Rank   Country                       Users

# of staff in the US: 4, I think?
# of staff in the EU: 7

Who says staff need to go? A few members could flesh out details and a staff member could post a shout to the rest of us peons ;)

I'd to one to get out of the house... though admittedly I watch little anime, its still interesting to meet people who haven't seen the typical American broadcasted stuff.

Wow, that's on my birthday :P

I usually go to these kinds of things on forums etc which I usually visit but being that day, I wouldn't be able to.
Hope everyone has fun.

It's on my birthday, too!
But I can't drive, and even then, it's several hours away.
Next year! I promise! (Could you host it somewhere a little more southern? Or does York have a special significance? :D)

I might be able to make this, I'll have to check a bit later down the road

Hmm... I'd actually love to come...
However, due to slight geographical issues (Israel), I'll have to see how I'll get there...
Maybe I'll plan a trip around that time (next semester shouldn't start till mid-October) or something like that...

Anyway, you enjoy yourselves ^_^

What are we going to do?
Meet up, chat and then probably go do something fun. Perhaps go to town for a drink. If someone offers to pay for my meal, we'll go to Jumbos, the all you can eat Chinese buffet.

Do I have to live in England to attend?
No.

Will there be a BBT Meet in another country?
Not unless another staff member decides he/she wants to do so. Members are welcome to arrange their own meetings elsewhere but it wouldn't be an "OFFICIAL" BBT Meet unless organised by or attended by staff.

Why are you recommending against trainers?
The bouncers feel that if you wear trainers you're a low class person. You're not making an effort to look good and therefore don't let you in. I don't make the rules, ask them if you want a proper explaination.

I need a cheap place to stay!
PM me and I'll see what I can look up for you in the area.

Why is it being hosted in York and not somewhere else in England?
Chiya is hosting people at his house and he lives in York. As he's the person organising the meet, where he hosts it is where it will be.
If you live far away, learn to use the train as there's a station in York. Or take a plane to Leeds or Manchester and train from there.

I'm too poor/I live abroad!
I've made it so you have several months to save up the money and fly in from abroad. No bitching about these two reasons.

Wish i could go but school starts up for me mid September. I know my money situation is good enough maybe next year if it's earlier in the summer. Sounds like fun too hope everyone who makes it has a great time.

Hm.  I'm newish, so you probably don't care, but I might be up for this.  I've been looking to travel anyway, and by then I should have some cash saved up.  I could even drive if I really wanted to, but I could probably get a relatively cheap flight with Ryanair or something...

Definitely, maybe!

I never said staff had to go. But there are more staff located in the EU, meaning that if staff organise something, it's more likely to happen in the EU.

Might be easier for you to get a cheap flight from Amsterdam (or other airport) to Leeds-Bradford airport and then catch a train upto York? (Or catch a lift from someone passing through Leeds ;))

APAC -> EU is a pretty hefty trip to make, most likely won't happen for me.

I agree that the EU is better than the US for such an event (look at total area and populations). I don't know about the US, but the major cities in europe are connected by cheap flights (e.g. easy-jet, ryan air, wizz, german wings,...) If you book them early enough, you might get the flight for about 20-30€ (one way). At least that would be the price for flights from Budapest to London (Luton). then you'd have to take the train, but it could be more expensive Oo.

I won't be coming, since I don't know where I'll end up (possibilities range from anywhere in germany, to Budapest, Szeged or pecs and riga), so I can't plan, and I don't know when university starts either^^
