hey all,
got some question...

okay, how to make Windows bootable disk + add other file (let say some file)?
to be precise, i want to make a Windows disk on a 8.45 GB DVD, but it will be a waste if i dont use the remaining spaces...

i have experimented with EA NFS, doing so will resulted the other file (add-on files) will be counted as installation file (extracted into inst dir)...

thanks

I do not have much experience with Windows Vista/7/8, but with XP you could just add another directory to the CD with no problem.

If you are making an XP boot disc, you can easily just add files to the ISO before burning. You can do this with tools like PowerISO.

With Windows 7 (and probably Vista), discs come with a checksum as well. I learned this the hard way when I tried to change a Windows 7 MSDN disc to a Windows 7 OEM disc (which works perfectly fine in XP). If you modify any file on a burned Windows 7 disc, the checksum will fail and you will be unable to use it as a boot/installation disc. I haven't tried with adding files.

Why don't you just buy some regular DVDs? All of the Windows ISOs prior to Windows 8 fit on a DVD (except maybe Win7 Ultimate). And DVDs are pretty damn cheap, like $0.25 per disc if you get 100 at a time, cheaper than CDs.

^ Adding files to an ISO should still be fine as it doesn't actually modify data.

Waste of a DVD, I've switched to making a bootable USB when I need it. Much more efficient.
Faster install and no worries of disc getting scratched.
