Faster install and no worries of disc getting scratched.

they have their own pros and cons, but in specific of whos faster, it would be the USB boot stick but depending on which USB stick tho.
also USB boot sticks are more convenient than a dvd for two simple reasons of easier storage and plug/play style usage, unlike dvds that needs a case and needs a dvd reader. BUT older systems doesnt support USB boot.

The USB will be faster as long as you get one that's at least half-decent. Typically, the fastest DVDs read at 16x, which is 177.28Mbps, or 22.16MBps. This doesn't account for seek delays though, which are basically nonexistent with a USB stick. So if you can get a USB stick that allows reads at least that fast, you're set.
I personally dislike having to have a USB stick dedicated to installing OS's, because I do that relatively frequently (frequently enough for it to not really be a waste of a DVD).

great...USB faster than DVD, but i only have one, 32GB USB stick (forgot to mention that the smallest media i have is the DVD 8GB 8))...

Well it doesn't take up your whole USB, you can still use the remaining space as normal.
Windows doesn't take up more than 4GB, and most linux fit on 2GB.
