I missed that coupon bit.

What sucks is that they just jacked the price up on the one I linked by 100$. I literally looked at it yesterday and it was 830$, now it's 930$. Guess good deals don't stick around.

It's a 16.4 inch screen, 1080p resolution, and has a quad core processor. Seems like it fits the purpose. I think the battery is worse, though.

I'm guessing those prices are after the coupon? Okay. I thought they were suspiciously low. I'm actually not sure why that Sony I linked is so cheap, then, if it's comparative to an HP at 500$ off.

First one has attractive specs, but why a Dell? If I'm not mistaken, the entire thread so far was focused on HP, and you had a huge coupon for HP, right?

Lol yea the original price of the HP is like 1400$, but I mean, it has the same specs as the dell. But the dell comes with 1080P and a bigger hard drive with a lower price. Also my dad has a discount for dell at his job.

So I think I'm sold on getting this dell, however should I get a 15.6" or a 17.3"? Bear in mind, I do not care about added weight, simply speaking which one will use less battery power, and which one would be best for anime?

resolution of 1080p looks best for anime playback, and a 15.6" would consume the least battery power.
so a 15.6" with 1080p would be the ideal screen, the 17.3" is still fine so long as the native res is still 1080p.

You know, I'd probably go HP.

The name Dell "Inspiron" does a lot of things, but it doesn't exactly instil confidence. For Vostro, Latitude or XPS, I'd have to think a lot more, but I'd stay away from the inspiron series. Doesn't seem worth it, not at these price points.

However, that might've changed. I'm very much prepared to be corrected on this matter.

Saras you are right in the sense that the 17R Inspiron looks like total shit, and has some crappy specs.

However this laptop came out like a month ago at most, it looks sexy, and the reason why it still carries the Inspiron name is because they are trying to imply that it is a fast computer, in a non-fancy chassis. (same specs as the alienware series). But you don't have to pay for the super fancy chassis, but personally it still looks sexy. Take a look at it, its actually pretty fancy looking.

I assume the palm rest surface is smoother than it looks, as it's supposedly matching the black part of the exterior. As long as the keyboard is sturdy and the touch pad doesn't stick out too much nothing looks off concerning appearance. The silver parts covers just the rim areas.

Final Final question.

The Dell I listed I have 6 months to pay until interest kicks in APR of 20%, and thats if I qualify for credit.

HP gives me 12 months to pay until interest kicks in APR of 20% and no credit check. Note I have a foreclosure on my credit.

Normally one should go with specs, but if it's just about finances it might as well be HP.

That's a good point too. I'm not too fond of the Inspiron and Latitude series of Dell laptops. My bias against Latitudes are mostly due to my having to work with Latitudes a lot in the past, though.

Holy crap... turns out my mom's huge laptop that I thought was a 17 inch is actually a 15 inch. DAMN. People who buy 17 inch laptops must be crazy then, good thing I made sure before I got one. Definitely not getting anything bigger than 15 inch now.

If anyone ever carried a 17" monitor they'd know that it's just not as mobile.

I'm glad that I didn't have to say it xD

Because he was asking for it! "Some people like it big, others may like it huge."

I'm pretty sure vuzedome is male, but I've never really determined that for certain.

Anyway, my laptop is 17". It's really not that bad. I like the extra inch and a half or so (because most 15" are actually 15.6" or something).
