Ubuntu and Hibernating
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:50:32 PM »
So I looked this up a few days ago, and you have to...enable it or something? I'm not really sure.
I'm curious if this the function in ubuntu is similar to the one in Windows? Or if it's even worth it because boot up time is a fraction of what it is for Windows.

Any thoughts?

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Ever tried googling? :3

Personally, I don't use hibernation, as my laptop boots in under a minute anyway.

Here you go http://askubuntu.com/questions/94754/how-to-enable-hibernation-in-12-04

They were concerned about hibernation not working in 12.04 on uncertified hardware so they decided to remove the option to prevent users from having issues.

I never use it either. I just shut down my machine if I am going to not be using it for a long period of time. Otherwise, I just use suspend for short periods of non-use.

If it boots that quickly there isn't much of a need to hibernate.

I never use hibernation though (just either lock, sleep, or shutdown).

I did look it up. I was unclear because I'm some sort of retard.
Deal with it.

Oh, I've become used to it by now.
I kind of like it that way :3

...and I know far worse retards anyway.
...so bad that it's not funny any more.

What's worse than not being able to turn on a computer ?

Not being able to move one of your limbs? Having Down's Syndrome? I can name a lot of things.

Even they (most probably) know how to turn on and use a computer, though.

The point was that those situations would be worse than not being able to turn on a computer...
