.TS files

Krudda:
I recently got my hands on a .TS broadcast from Japan.
I was going to encode it and see how it turned out, but just for curiosity, I wanted to see what I had downloaded
Upon double clicking, I discovered the default player was WMP, which I hate. However, the picture (1440*1080) was crystal clear.
I then decided to play in VLC, Bad de-interlacing was easily visable.
I tried MPC-HC after that... It was similar to trying to watch 10bit with only 8bit codecs.

So I thought I'd make a thread here and share my findings.
I found it rather amusing that the worst video program I have was the only program capable of playing the file properly.

Sorry about the diff reso's. I don't know how to screenshot WMP any other way.
Also VLC seems to have taken the picture and properly rendered it, but only when I told it to screenshot it. While it was playing, there was significant sawtoothing. - EDIT: No, seems that was the host I was using... ? Anyway, clicking it here, then again in the window that loads will show the full resolution and obvious sawtoothing.
Oh yeah, and not the same frame. who cares, this isn't a comparison.

about the MPC being bad it might be bacause of the codec paired with it.

vuzedome:
Well, all you gotta do is use a suitable de-interlacer and then re-encode it to what you want.

Yeah, I will do eventually. I wasn't posting this for help, I wanted to discuss it lol. So you think it may be the codecs? Well, I am using the latest available codec packs and cccp so possibility is minimal. I don't really want to switch to madvr because of the process involved.

vuzedome:
Definitely codecs.
Dump the video specs here for us to see.
