Yay or Nay? The Windows 8 Metro Interface

I'm sure almost everyone of us has heard of Windows 8 by now, and that new Metro interface that Microsoft is doing for it.

Personally, I think this interface is too touch oriented. It is really really quite jarring to use with a traditional desktop setup.. I have only tried it out for a few days and I already find it hard to like it...

For one, multitasking with the new interface is practically impossible. There is no way to open 2 apps at once. You must be in the traditional desktop mode to do that.. Oh, and the start button is gone  :'( Furthermore, some apps behave completely differently on the two different modes!

I wish that this metro interface was only for touch devices..

Enough of my rant.  :-\ What do you guys think?

It's quite clear that they had tablets and phones in mind when it was designed. They probably only released a Desktop version "because we can."

Pzc:
It may be nice for touchscreens but for desktop use with
mouse and keyboard I find Metro horrible. I don't want a lot
of flashy stuff from the OS I want it from the programs
that I actually use.

I'm quite confident that the metro ui can be disabled, since if there's no option for that Micro$oft is just driving people to use OS X or Linux. For touch devices the metro ui is the best I've used so far, far better than iOS or that Android which sucks ass.

I agree that the interface is awesome for phones. Too bad they don't have the market share which results in less apps :/

Hope they give us a full conventional desktop. For now, the first screen you see when you boot your windows 8 is that metro UI. And they have no more start button also -_-
