Yay or Nay? The Windows 8 Metro Interface

I still think its going to be a huge failure. . .

although microsoft is trying to push laptop manufacturers to have touchscreens. . .

as long as they dont do the "next directX version wont be supported by Windows 7" crap. . .i dont think 8 will be sucessful

metro.:
Windows has been giving devs tons of free shit to develop for 8.
I mean TONS. Like, surfaces, PCs, tablets, all for free, as long as you make stuff for Windows 8.

That's one solution to competing with the App Store.

Was Vista a market failure? I imagine the momentum just from being bundled on new systems would carry 8 pretty far as is.

It's also ridiculously cheap, relative to previous editions.

I have a gut feeling theres gonna be a service pack ~2 months after release. . .

I dont know, maybe im and old-timer and I just cant see it being successful in a desktop with that metro interface. . .

Can't you opt out of the Metro interface? I don't believe they make it easy, but I doubt having to fiddle with things stopped most experienced users from disabling UAC with Vista.
