Yay or Nay? The Windows 8 Metro Interface
mgz:
nay.
While it may be a fantastic touch interface using it for desktops should be skipped
Until they have that shit where it uses your hand and finger movement to do everything (thing more functional version of minority report computers)

Vista was better then xp when you got it to work/had the right hardware. XP had horrible security and vista had security that was annoying to a lot of people.
It really was not as bad as people made it out to be. Everyone seems to forget how bad xp was when it came out but, I dont blame them as it was a long time.

True that, dont know what's up with the hate
Haha I remember long time ago I was reformatting like every 4 months or so with XP
Vista never got any virus trojan and shit with the same sites I'm viewing

I'm not sure I completely agree with his review. Quite a bit of it seems to be the whole "change is baaaaaaaad" argument. Which, from an out-of-the-box productivity tool, I completely understand, but from a long term stand point, I don't. Let's be honest, no matter how much Windows does a phenomenal job of fixing it's mistakes, it does stick with the changes. Vista is really just a flawed version of 7, there was a distinct lack of big changes. I feel like the idea, of having an OS that is consistent across platforms, is a fantastic idea, and one that will eventually segregate the market, which has it's pros and cons. And regardless of if we the consumers think it's a good idea, it'll probably get pushed through anyway. Look at the iOS family, and how successful it's been, regardless of one's like/dislike of it.
The poor app design part is simply one that will fix itself with time, and with the amount of money Windows is pouring into it's ecosystem, it won't take too much more time. His issues about overhead are well founded, however, there's going to have to be some give and take if you want to appeal both to the continuous OS idea, and the "let's just remake 7" idea.
That ended up being a lot more writing then I anticipated... Should be noted that I personally have mixed feelings about 8, but it's definitely a step in the right direction, and for something like a Surface, fucking beautiful.
Go back to your 8 bashing now I suppose.
