Yay or Nay? The Windows 8 Metro Interface
occasional:
It looks cool, but it also seems like a big change. I don't care as long as it makes sense and it's more efficient once you learn how to use it, but I don't know that that's necessarily the case. Performance improvements alone won't be enough to make me switch from Windows 7.

Knowing M$, I would simply ignore 8 and wait for 9.

I'd rather stick with Windows 7, if the choice was to do that, move to 8, or use Ubuntu (which I do, by the way, I just want to have a Windows desktop).
Burkingam:
BTW the main reason why I like Linux is because of its licence, not because I think it's better than Windows, although I guess that's also true. Many open-source software are developed by for-profit enterprises, like Ubuntu from Canonical and Android from Google, but the thing with open-source is that developers HAVE to maintain constant quality and CAN'T adopt the kind of predatory behaviors we see from Microsoft, because otherwise, their product would get forked before they blink three times. So it's not about market domination or advertisement anymore, it's about quality of product, and quality of service, and respect for users.

^ They even have a coding style manual for the kernel developers.
I'm mostly using Windows 7, since I've learned to tweak like mad during the time of XP. While I do use UNIX all the time, there's not much reason for me to use it exclusively.
