Yay or Nay? The Windows 8 Metro Interface
AceHigh:
Vista was unnecessary until Win7 came along. Why? Because there were no good games made with DirectX10 for a while and by the time it became more common, DirectX11 and win7 got released within a short time interval. Funny enough even DX11 by itself was a major improvement compared to DX10, supporting features like tessellation effect. I am actually glad that I skipped both DX10 cards and Vista.
Slysoft:
Because so many games support DX11
AceHigh:
Quite a few popular ones.
Slysoft:
Yeah, but still less than support DX10, and that is with the increase in popularity in gaming in the last 5 years as well as the fact that DX11 has been out a year longer than DX10 was the latest thing (windows 7 is over 3 years old, and came out only 2 years after vista).
Plus as said earlier, DX10 required vista to use, and I doubt many game companies would waste their time when the majority of people weren't even using vista and were going back to XP because their computers sucked.

Made exclusively for touch units and has no place on normal computers. I will be looking for releases of Win8 that remove metro entirely from the OS and then I will consider installing it if it has any other advantages of win7.
Also File explorer looks like shit

i vote for a swappable GUI, although i'll be holding back from getting one unless they'd release a fully usable trial version of this and i'd just find a trial extender. yeah my current W7 is running like that.
so yes its completely legal, its a trial version.
