Hi everyone!

I was looking around doing a bit of research to see whether its possible to make anime look better using inherent codecs as opposed to downloading an anime that already looks good.

I was quite surprised to come across this blog article from 2008 which may be a bit outdated, but shows how to use FFDShow to make anime look better with inherent setting changes.

Since its from 2008, is there any other alternatives to better tweak anime or will you guys recommend it at all?

I just use K Lite codec with the initial settings (This thing runs everything I chuck at it! Its quite good I must say  ;D) and don't bother with any tweaks....I may make some changes now if the anime upgrades like the examples in that blog article  ;)

Avithsync with proper scripts, but sharpen, denoise, etc. aren't really what you'd call "making anime look better", what it does is actually it makes anime look acceptable, the best copy of a video is still the untouched original.

Just download the best version available.
If that still does not satisfy you then go ahead and purchase the original BDs, good BD player, quality HT surround setup and uber plasma(yes I like plasma) tv.

Please, if you don't know what you're doing, don't fuck with it.

Also, untouched original is often /not/ the best (see hard telecine, aliasing, bad upscales, etc)...

^wouldn't that make it a prototype then instead of the original? theres a difference between them once you add "official" in it.

PS: untouched originals is what you'd call raws, unless you're defining untouched original to something else then i wouldn't be able to know.

"Untouched originals" should always refer to original TV broadcasts as long as BDMVs are not out or to the BDMV rips as soon as they become available. Reencoded raws are not untouched.
As such, those sources are usually the best available but not always best looking (since encoders can make them look so much better with proper filtering).
