Y'all have probably noticed already, but Demonoid has been down for awhile. Unfortunately, it's probably gone for at least a good long while:http://torrentfreak.com/demonoid-busted-as-a-gift-to-the-united-states-government-120806/

Hey Ukraine, thanks for the shitty "gift"! Anyway, I've been doing a bit of searching for a new torrent site. My problem is that I mostly torrent ebooks these days. Demonoid was far and away the best site for them, and all these open sites seem to just focus on games, movies, and tv.

I'm aware that a lot of the good torrent sites require an invite these days, but unfortunately, all of my friends used Demonoid as well. Ugh. Does anyone here know of a overall good place?

Does anyone here know of a overall good place, and if it requires a login, can send me an invite? I can prove my seeding ratio (I'll just use mine here...sucks I can't use my Demonoid one, it was crazy good).

TBH my list was:

- Demonoid
- BTJunkie
- ISOHunt

2 are down, 1 still remains, tho its the less reliable one. . .
sad story that demonoid was killed :'(

good thing I got a couple of things off it last month

They had it coming.
And I find it weird how you guys still had Demonoid on your list.

I haven't been to Demonoid in like 4 years. Never knew that site was still alive.

I used it until my seedbox provider's ISP started blocking their tracker's IP address... I had to move on to bigger and better websites. XD

Why is that weird? Demonoid was a well-known, reliable site with relatively safe torrents. I've tried several times, even before this happened, to find an alternative. Good torrent sites are hard to find these days, what with them moving towards more exclusivity and secretiveness and whatnot. Which one do you think is the best overall?

Still TPB, followed by Torrentz, and then go private like IPT.

Demonoid search function was terrible, which makes it weird that people actually still used it.

RIP Demonoid.

I am not familiar with Ukrainian laws but that site makes the claim that Demonoid wasn't actually violating Ukrainian law. I find that to be a questionable claim. However, if it is true, then it is a sad day for the Ukrainian people when the government will confiscate property when no laws are broken, simply to appease an outside interest. Have they no respect for their sovereignty?

Like I said though, I don't know their laws so maybe Demonoid was breaking something.

How so? If you clicked the "exact phrase" box when searching it worked great! I also really liked how they broke down the categories e.g. Audio Books, Software > Linux, Windows, Mac, Movies > HD, SD, Japanese Anime etc.

The only two sites I used for non Anime content was Demonoid and TPB. I guess it is down to the TPB now. I download so little non-Anime content that it really isn't worth joining a private tracker. Plus, I liked the anonymity it gave me since I only downloaded certain stuff on public wifi and not my personal connection. I don't want anything that requires me to have an account.

I've been through the death and reincarnation of Demonoid before, with retained quota, and in some 2-3 reincarnations of their fora. So let's not write the site off yet...  :P

KickAss torrents ( kat . ph ) used to be better than it is today.  It still has a good bit of content, but seedpools get anemic quickly.  Got a lot of ebooks & ezines there over the years.

With teh Big D going offline for "a while" ... who knows?  KAT might pick up a bit of content and more Olde Schoole, dedicated seedfags.  Certainly worth looking at and watching over the coming weeks to see if some of the community migrates over to there & gives a bit more love back.

No reg required, it's got fully public content.  Haven't checked for a while; not sure if they have a private side these days.  I do know that if you are searching for something or come across a dead torrent, do a couple extra searches with different string combos and follow some of the associated/related links.  Often there are two or five copies of certain titles that were put up by different folks at different times and some stay alive while others die.

If you're into live music bootlegs and other copyright-free (or, "gray-enough" zone copyright), music-related (live concert videos, radio/TV broadcast bootlegs, etc.), there's a fantastic community with a rich archive that goes back for years ... they operate on a very similar philosophy to BBT, but are otaku for music rather than anime:  Mind-Warp PaVilion mindwarppavilion . org

I haven't been active there for a couple years (under a different nick than here) ... but they are (at least, were, hopefully still are) a great group of people from around the world sharing their love for music.  Terabytes of rare and unreleased studio & concert audio & video.  Reg appears to still be open to all.
I win, once again, in my never-ending struggle against victory.

I've heard good things about bitme. ebooks are really the only thing I care about torrenting these days, but it can be really difficult to find a good source for them.

While discussing (but not linking to other trackers) is fine, asking for invites, trading them etc. is not allowed.

I was wondering what happened to the site, I use to use demonoid for almost everything ._.
I would fall back on kat or tpb if I couldn't find what I wanted on demonoid. But I use baka for anime now and sometimes nyaa if I cant find what i'm looking for here.
