According to what I read, casual physical contact is restricted to young children towards the parents.
After about 10 years old physical contact with family is mostly reduced to special cases.
Physical contact between peers and family is rare.
Then contact is restored with a boyfriend/girlfriend.

(except for the bleeding noses, who the hell came up with that one anyway?).
Let's see. Using logic I conclude:
amine/manga has as extra in the image:
Extra thick blood vessels, extra drop of sweat, Less colored eyes, nosebleed
Those are the ones I'm remembering anime shows.
My logic behind it:
The same way that the sweat exists, the thick head blood vessels, etc... exists. This is just one more of 'em.
Let's see... When you see something you sexually like (for most man -> naked beautiful woman) the blood pressure rises a bit and many people actually feel that throbbing in the nose. It is known that the blood vessels in the nose are quite small. So the logic seems to be: "That chick's sooo tham hot that my blood pressure is pumped so high that I get nosebleed".
Anyway, the reaction to a beautiful body is always higher if the first thing you see is already what you see is someone you consider beautiful.

Xenophobic, dysfunctional, distorted society that doesn't value human life

I see... So what I see in the anime is true after all. They use email instead of SMS.

o.o they also have forum boards on their CPs, i mean you could see them being done in some animes having all those either negative feedbacks or positive ones, although the former is more common.

Apparently they give chocolate on Valentine's Day and they celebrate the new year on the 15th (?) of January.

Your country might be whaling (which is, regarding the current population of whales, irresponsible. But hey, so is tuna fishing and I LOVE tuna) and eating the meat, people in Japan barely eat it anymore.

Minke whale:
Conservation status: least concern
rough population estimates: between half a million and a million based on outdated estimates.

So what did you say about endangered species?

For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Cultural differences: eg strict etiquettes -- using your first name is a big deal. "Hello Hikari how are you?" is out of the question unless you have close relationship with Hikari. It's not like that in the part of the world I live.

Wow, that totally slipped my mind. I was thinking about this also (when watching anime) but forgot to mention it in the thread. Where i live everyone calls each other by their first name, using the family name just sounds weird.

From where I live, adults only call each other by last name when it's a formal situation and they are not, at least, friends or when you almost don't know the other person and you are not interested in creating a relationship (does not mean that you don't like that person), Otherwise it's always first name, if there are clashes (two ppl with the same 1st name), first name + last name, in that order. Children call each other by 1st name. Honorifics work almost like it is in USA.
[honorific] first name [last name]|[honorific] last name
There are more complexities but I'll only write if some1 is interested.

Well, what can I say to that?
Didn't even know that there was this kind of 'good-for-whaling' species to begin with.
By any chance, sorry if I offended you.

Nice stuff. Starting from that one I found others also quite interesting that also support my ideology that Japan is only for the ones who like it that way or were born there. Almost no foreigner will like Japan but many will prefer Japan to their current country. Thx again for the link.

I've also watched some more videos, and some japanese guy was saying that in Japan you can't be popular by being good-looking and bitchy (like most girls are), but you need to be kind and stuff, and that people there are helpful etc... Interesting but i doubt that that is true, sounded too close-minded to me (by the way he said things, it sounded like japanese are freaking saints, shy as f**k, don't hold hands and stuff, and generally living by respecting every damn rule).

From my (small) studies that's true for the eyes of a non asian.  They even show it in most anime and manga they produce where there's a guy and multiple girls... Well.. a harem! Pick any harem series (with exceptions) they produced. What do you get? Shy guy that cannot makeup his mind and where if you want any touching at all it has to be forced some way like tripping and falling over a girl. Sooo... seems like they will be stuck like that with very little no physical touching except if they are really related. That's their culture so-it-seems and we'll have to accept it or not!

What I find really funny is how Western culture influenced them so much that they turned into the kind of people they are now.
For example; going to a brothel was nothing to be ashamed of, and being homosexual was seen as a honorary path in terms of bushido (if I may believe Samurai Champloo).

Nowadays, they became huge shy-asses.
I couldn't imagine living there now, since even asking a girl to hang out would be an act of flirting.
Even here you can (at least in my country) ask girls to hang out with just as friends without being looked upon unless you ask her often.

I love the fact that japan only has 3G net and above and no 2g. Cause here even if you have a 3G connection it never works. You still get only 2g. Damn I can't even listen to Internet radio on my phone thanks to this stupid connection.

apparently in the uk 4g will knock out millions of peoples TV due to interference

also i think the way people look upon education is more serious there judging by anime Ive seen anyway.

Akihabara is pretty much its own thing in Tokyo. I cannot think of another place in the world were French style maids walk around unless you head to a red light district.
