nope, i doubt it would even need the extra fans at all.

So..... I have a core 2 duo 2ghz processor. I was wondering if I could slap in a R9 265/270/270x or a GTX 750/750Ti/760 and play normally or do I need to upgrade to a i3/i5 minimum. RAM is the DDR3 1333/1600 Hz. Change in processor to an i3/i5 might also mean a motherboard change, I think. (Don't know really). Also just assume it's PCIe 2.0.

Original plan was to get a PS4 but well....let's also consider the alternative. (Main reason was number of games).

Going i3/i5 will definetely mean a motherboard change (afaik the 0th gen i-processors changed from 775 to 1366 and 1155), however you should be hitting rock-bottom on system requirements with your current processor

core2duo @ 2Ghz is really, really slow. you could even pick up a haswell pentium @ 2.7Ghz and it'd outperform it by more than twice.

an i3 upgrade would be the cheapest and reasonable path, an i5 would be a budget stretch tho.
on the other hand, if you could get your hands on the overclockable pentiums then those could potentially outperform a cheap i5 for less costs.

edit: PS4 or consoles in general are a waste of money, most of those who pick them up either has too much money, or not enough money to buy a gaming PC.
i mean think about it, you could play most of the console games in a PC, some of those games can even be played at a much better graphic quality.
only a handful of games aren't ported to PCs or are badly ported, sadly theres no PS4 emulator yet but that doesn't matter much though.

So basically I will be have huge bottleneck even if I have a decent gpu huh?! Well I wanted to keep the budget within the cost of a PS4. If I have to upgrade the motherboard as well might as well be an i3/i5. The fact that if I built this build it will only last only for a year since both me and my brother will be moving out and really don't want to spend much on it now. (In that scenario a PS4 would be much easier to take around). Supposing i do make a PC which of the above cards would you recommend as I am not really willing to spend more than that (Last I checked those cards would give a decent 40-50fps on 1080p which is much better than PS4/xbox).

Edit: also which CPU should I look for in i3/i5 (intel only cause stuff like MATLAB and autoCad behave better with that). If possible can we get a budget of $350 for CPU+ GPU. That will have some extra left out for motherboard and power supply (500w enough?)
