Tatsujin:
Computer works after few tests. Took about an hour and a half to set it up with minimum components. Got 150GB Raptor (main) and the rest 4TB WD Reds. I got lost trying to ... "install" FreeNAS8 on the USB so I gave up. Going to install Windows 8 and set it up on the computer really quick. I want this thing to fire up already.

theres a neat thing about windows, if you rightclick my computer's window theres an option there called "add a network location", it works like dropbox or like an external harddisk.
although i'm pretty sure linux also has this feature, dunno about OSX.

Yeah. Trying to figure out how to set it up so I can do everything on the network from my computer, but if any other network connects to the NAS then they can only "read" what is on it.
Maybe there is a way to make an "Admin" and make a "User" group? So the Admin (me) can do whatever and "User" can only read the files?

i think i've done that before but i've forgot how, although it should be related to admin/guest privileges.
the only PC that was able to write on disk was my main system, and any other was denied write but they could copy/read files.

Mm I just want them to "read". But before we even jump to that, I can't figure out how to add the network on my main computer. Both are not connected to the router, but to the modem which also has multiple connections. So I have to transfer everything back to the router, I'm guessing?
