hi all...

straight to the question, is all Acer 2GB Nvidia dual graphic (with optimus) are power saving?
if so, here's another question...how to set Nvidia as default graphic card? my sister has acer 2GB nvidia Optimus(sorry dont remember the model, cant ask her atm)...she cant play NFS MW full screen, only box view only...

ok, 2nd main question...
which is better?
acer has quiter touchpad, longer battery(timeline, although refer above question), and nicer design...
in the other hand, asus has the power(nvidia, no power saver) but with noisy touchpad and bulky design, about the battery i dunno...

if you recommend me acer, please refer the bolded question above...
and if you recommend me asus, tell me why...

krumm:
I tend to like the designs of the toshibas, and dislike acer.  Asus for me is kinda in the middle, but don't count on good customer service, as it has been trash for me.  Asus has no question asked replacement sometimes(if not always, I've not looked lately).  Toshiba don't fight you on there warranty, but tend to be a little costly.  I don't know anything about acer, but I consider them like dell and don't care.

megido-rev.M:
Acer is crap.
ASUS is average on anything to do with software, but otherwise it's OK.

For the switchable graphics question, you'll have to set this in the OS advanced power settings (e.g. "Change plan settings" > look at the lower left corner).

You gotta show which laptops you're referring to though.

Clannad_92:
hmmm...about the type/model...
acer timeline is good enough VS asus a series (a43sj)...

ummm, where is that? can you give a picture (if can)...atm borrowing a friend's laptop

Saras:
All current laptops with an NVIDIA card comes with optimus and if I'm not mistaken, the majority of the non-entry level ATI cards as well with their version of it - enduro. That asus also has power saver even if it is not stated.

You can select which card to use in the NVIDIA control panel in the manage 3d settings tab. Just select the preferred processor in the global settings section.

The acer range is composed of budget laptops, Asus builds anything from budget, to gaming, to business. I need to know the specific model, to give an educated suggestion.

Also, the amount of memory on a laptop's graphics card is nearly irrelevant and one should not judge a cards capabilities by it. This is not 1997.
