iPhone 5 Is The Most Disappointing iPhone Ever?
rostheferret:
Smartphones are by definition a low powered portable computer. If I wanted it to be used just as a phone I'd buy an old Nokia 3410. Reliable, cheap as hell and you know for a fact if you dropped it's gonna still god damn work. So yes, if you're buying a new smartphone you are essentially browsing for a new computer. And yes, technology actually does work this way. Do you want a 27-inch monitor to game on or a 21-inch? I'll happily take that 40-inch TV of yours to watch a film on, here, have my old 13-incher instead.
Your calculations are deceptive as well. Volumetric calculations pad the realistic surface area dimensions that are really more appropriate in this case; many android phones released as long as a year ago have similar specs and add a couple of mm's to each side. Realistically, you'll barely notice the difference, and if 20 grams extra weight is gonna pull your trousers down, get a belt. Nobody's forcing you to get a massive screen, and as far I was aware it was only really Samsung doing that anyway.
Bigger isn't always better. Neither is smaller. There is no one size fits all, and I myself actually did want one that's smaller (though believe it or not, it's still larger in volume than the iPhone, but I promise you it doesn't feel it); 2 years old and feature wise, I bet there's actually very little it can do the iPhone can't. If you really want to rant about something, how about ranting about how dreadful their own maps are. Apparently my neighbouring town moved 400 miles away!

But you must also take into account, the engineering behind the phone.
I mean look at, say the nokia lumia 920, it has pretty good looking specs, the Galaxy SIII, the note, HTC (whateveR), they have really good specs, but they are all forgetting something:
ITS A PORTABLE PHONE!

If that were the case Iphone 5 would not have gotten a bigger screen size.
just some random stats.
"Out of all the Android devices purchased over the last three months, 29% of them had a screen size of over 4.5-inches"
"It has been found that only 19% of users that have a device with a screen smaller than 3-inches download and watch videos"
So your theory is already flawed apple saw people wanted a bigger screen so they came out with one. The android selling stats show people want a large screen. A phone is no longer about a device to make phone calls that is small. People want to multi task watch youtube. look at excel/word docs. Not everyone wants to carry around a tablet or a laptop so things like the note, and other large screens fit perfect while still fitting in the pocket.
When Iphone 6 comes out with a 4.5" screen what will be your argument then? That apple invented 4.5" screens and everyone needs one because they fit in your pocket so well and add weight to your pants so you can feel your phone in your pocket.
Is apple a good phone yes, Is it the best phone to ever come out in history no. Is there better phones then the apple both spec and feature wise yes, is it all a matter of personal opinion yes. Is apple now under fire for there new and improved maps that were supposed to outshine google maps, yes
The tides are already changing. I dont think steve jobs would have let the current maps come out in its current state he always went for perfection and it showed in some of the lacking features earlier iphones did not have he would not have stood for this.

That is such a big turn off for me. I'm still on the fence over the Nexus 7 because it doesn't have a slot.

It was all him IMO.

Im going to rant a litttle:
Personally, overall I think the iPhone 5 is an amazing phone and I still prefer it over most other phones (if not all)
I was however, dissapointed as to the little "new" things they added.

they are starting to advertise their screen size and "tricking" *(IMO)* the masses into thinking that bigger is better. . .
look at the trends for cellphones:
start with the big brick-looking ones and go down to the motorola V3 and so on. . .more features, less size, thats how technology should be advancing and smartphones are not doing that. . .
Apple has the iPad, so if you want something close to a computer get the iPad not a fucking 7" smartphone, but if you want a phone, get the fucking iPhone, its way better.
the iPhone 5 for example has (according to some site i saw, and using a simple calculator) around 57000 mm^3 volume, while the lumia 920 has around 95000 mm^3 volume . . .
and what does the lumia have over the iphone (hardware-wise)
NFC
i know it supposely has a ton of image processing power and stuff but I wouldnt consider that "more" hardware, and even if it was still, would that really ocupy around 40000 mm^3 of volume?
so, overall the ENGINEERING of the iPhone 5 is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY superior to any other phone, it is as it should be:
in other words,
in a features/volume ratio, the iPhone outshines every other phone (that I've seen)
a portable phone that fits in your pocket, that the weigh doesnt pull down your pants, and that it doesnt create a bulk on your pocket that seems like an odd square in your pants.
--- End quote ---
not at all, theres one thing that upsets alot of people that switches to samsung or anything else really, its the price, even for one if an iphone is superior in terms of technology, the mass doesn't give a shit if it costs a kidney to purchase, heck a few old model samsung tabs at costs half of that iphone's which still is decently operational as an all-around smartphone.
i for one only need a jukebox that can browse, a battery life of 20hours or more while listening to music and i'm good to go, i hell won't shell out any more than 100$ for a heap of junk features that i'd never use.
metro.:
Lol have you seen the Samsung ad about how the S3 is better then the iPhone 5?
Wait, I'll link, this.
bloody000:
Do people really enjoy paying attention to things they don't really care just to feel good about their choices/camps? It's fucking phone.
go start a GPU thread or something, now THAT brings out the worst in people.
