Remember smart phones have to have big screens, how else are you going to be able to browse the net, view your emails etc? The smaller the screen the pointless the smart phone gets.

I checked my mail for the first time in like 3 or 4 days. Got 6 mails and all of it was either spam or Steam purchase confirmation. I wonder why I would need a function like that when in my daily life I have access to a computer most of the day.

Same can be said about browsing the web. My motto is: if I am not sitting in front of computer, I am too busy to fiddle with it. A LED flashlight and a beer opener are some of the features I would want. After all when I to the town on a Friday night, a beer opener can come in handy as well as a retractable blade. Seriously though, my second phone had a LED flashligh... how I miss that feature on my current phone. None of you "social hub" faggotry feature could even compare to the usefulness of having a proper flash-light integrated into the phone.

While we are at it, it would be nice to have phones without cameras, so that employers don't take them away in fear of industrial espionage. Heh, my mom sure as hell has that problem at her work. I am just waiting for other companies to start same practice.

Not bad actually.

Different people, different needs.  I'm one of a few people exempted from my employer's no cellphone policy so I can take and share pictures from anywhere in the warehouse, use it as a flashlight, and have constantly updated access to email.

Due to its water/dust/drop resistance(1.5m drops onto concrete floors are a weekly occurrence), the Motorola Defy/MB525 has been indispensable for me, even better considering that I got it barely used for $100.

Windows 8 is crap even for the PC, so is the Mac OS in my opinion. I'm not a big expert in this, but lately, operating system have all been crap. Not even talking about smartphones, the systems in there are just pure crap. It's like the freedom of the user is cut in every OS update, companies are focusing on "markets" like iTunes, and everything seems dumbed down.

Want a Nokia 5800? It's Symbian.

Yes. Read chapter 1-4 in "Bill Moggridge - Designing Interactions" and you will understand the direction the personal computer(pc/mac/smartphones) is taking.

You're right, we should all use text-based Linux systems.
