Well, there certainly isn't much to uncensor, but that's because this is as straight as a romantic comedy as you can get, and a charming one at that.

I ran the first two 1-star comments through Google translate, and given that both mention 'Korean' somewhere down the line, I think it's related to this incident: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-05-05/henneko-author/anime-foreign-product-placement-to-be-removed/2

Basically, a poster of a K-Pop singer was added in the background in one of the episodes by the outsourcing studios. Since Japanese otaku aren't exactly appreciative of Korean stuff in their anime (understatement of the year), they downrate the BDs and cancel their pre-orders, further discouraging others to order it. The poster will be removed in the BD version, but the damage may have already been done. They also seem to be bothered by the pacing (the first episode was rapid-fire jokes all around, and the later episodes slowed down a bit).

It's similar to the Korean dish controversy in Sakurasou (also by J.,C. Staff). Though it's not the sole reason for the show not selling all that well, it must have had an effect nonetheless. Plus, it might discourage Japanese otaku from buying J.C. Staff-related anime ever again, fearing more Korean stuff will be added in (even though the studio itself didn't put it in).

This shows the problem with outsourcing, if Korean studios want to do some product placement of their own. However, keeping everything in-house means costs will go up, in which case the animation would clearly suffer. A case of 'pick your poison', I guess.

Edit: I did read in the ANN forum that the show is still doing fairly well (between 6 and 8k) in the pre-order ranking, despite this minor incident. I hope it stays that way, because this is another show that deserves to sell.

wow, otaku's are really working hard to improve their name for themselves...

vuzedome:
So hard to pick, Tsukiko with and without expression, so hard to choose.

And this show is definitely 99% moe and 1% supernatural stone cats.
