Grimpak, I do not think the economics are all bad. I just think they are oversimplified for the 1/2 hour show format.

And we wonder why American kids do so poorly in academics?

Don't eat tomato leaves either. They are in the Nightshade family. I saw they had "heirloom tomatoes" in ep. 2. Does anyone know of a group doing similar teaching of better farming practices in places arouns the world that need it, or do they all just give them food?

Wolf and Spice vibes al right. But it doesn't seem as good, yet. Too many boob jokes.

I guess it only makes sense someone would try to clone Spice & Wolf given how unique it is.

Holo is way more attractive though.
Just a note, some creators (including the Director) who worked on Spice & Wolf also worked on Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. The seiyu for Horo (Koshimizu Ami) is also the seiyu for Maou. As awesome as she is, Ami is not pretty good with her Kanji and English .... and I don't mind that nor the tingling vibes of Spice & Wolf. I welcome both.

I don't mind the vibes either, what I mind is it being not being as good.

Anyway, the second episode is a step in the right direction. I hope it won't be the last one.

I should re-watch ep. 3, as things were moved fast towards the end. It seemed close to committing a continuity error, but saved the day with a quick explanatory line from Maou.

The maid is worse than useless. Advice that's a day late and a dollar short, wouldn't you say so?

This is a wonderful series, I enjoy everything about it and it is much much better than Spice and Wolf which has a nice premise but never lived up to its potential..the main relationship was poorly handled and the economics side was not well done at all...in that version. Here it is superb and very accurate and well spoken. I also love the low key but exciting main relationship here, and hope for much more. The art and style of this is edgy in some ways, it reminds me of the unusual but rather bad art style of the Anime remake of The Count of Monte Cristo..Here it is ok as they balance it with fine art in many scenes. The overall feel is similar to SAO and i like both very much so I am very happy with this.

If you find the story and underlying themes of war vs economics hard to follow you are probably from the USA, most other countries and cultures will be fine with it, but sadly in modern America there is a cred for being boldly anti intellectual. Too bad for this is fun stuff and well done. I have this series at the top of my list as several others i had hopes about have been dashed by staff changes and a huge drop on quality. Here we can enjoy something very good and well done. More please :)

I haven't watched this yet. I just saw some pics on Sankaku, and I must say that I'm disappointed. No, I'm not saying that I think that Sankaku's twisted news scheme means that they accurately reported what the entire show is about. On the other hand, I looked at the art style (and outfit for the Demon Lord), and I knew pretty quickly that they were animating the more useless version of this story (I've seen that manga version... there are like 3 of them out by now lol). I've seen the version of the manga where the outfit she is using in the show comes from. It focuses more on the romance than the economics... and worse, the romance isn't really anything special. Combine that with the way they're animating it...

Maybe I'll try to watch a few episodes, but chances are I'll just go back to reading the manga. I've been looking forward to this being animated for a while, too. Sigh.

The Demon King probably has magic powers we haven't seen yet, and she has business knowledge. She has the qualities of both Spice and Wolf. So what's the hero, a trophy husband? Sits there and looks good? What does he know, other than fighting?

I'm not sure how he's portrayed in the anime, but the Hero learns pretty quickly. He's intelligent. And he's not just strong. He's really fucking strong. As in, he's probably at least as strong as her in terms of fighting ability (probably stronger, from what I've seen). He knows a lot of magic, and he's rather mobile. Most of the times when you see him in the manga, he's doing important missions for her, that involve being at point X and doing Y. He's usually also taking on pretty much any type of demon, and disposing of it almost as if he was toying with it. Then again, I don't know where this version will go with him. You have to remember that he wasn't ever contracted to do anything but kill demons. Obviously he wouldn't pick up anything but fighting. The Demon Lord has... well, I won't get into that, I don't know where the show is at, so that'll probably be a spoiler.

Can you tell me what country you're from, so I can start to expand your image upon an entire country, and thus mark wherever you're from as a country of retards? No, seriously. There's a fucking bell-shaped curve everywhere. Your country has retards, too. You're one of them. I've met plenty of "modern Americans" that are quite intelligent. One of them was my roommate in college.

I wish I could do an accidental face plant in the demon lord's "cushions". sigh

n a more serious note, sure the corn/maize looked pretty, but it so wasn't all that corn can be. No flint corn, it was all dent corn, and no popcorn at all!

I'm glad her security measures are working. whew. That was a close one.

I wonder how many know even what was aired about corn/maize.

I rather agree. It didn't go horribly wrong, but it did not help its cause much either.
