Need advice on $50ish earbud headphones with mic (must buy today!)

So my KOSS headphones broke again! This is my third pair >:(

So here is the deal. I am traveling without headphones and need a pair NOW. I have access to a Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Staples. I just need something to get me buy until I have the time to do the proper research and order a solid pair online. I probably won't end up keeping what I buy today as it is a temporary fix for an emergency (of sorts  :P) but if I am impressed enough I may keep them.

They absolutely must be ear buds due to personal comfort and portability. They also need to have a mic for making phone calls. I can't tell you what a pain it is to constantly be pulling out my headphones and swap in my bluetooth headset.  While it will not be my primary hands free device, I will be using them while listening to music in somewhat noisy environments so clarity and the ability to cancel background noise is very important.

Dedicated playback and call controls is important but not completely necessary although it does seem most headphones with a mic have controls anyway.

I would like to spend around $50 US. I know that isn't much for headphones especially at a brick and mortar store but I really don't want to invest much money if I am going to order a better pair later.

Any suggestions would be great!

There are two at Best Buy that I am considering.

1) Skullcandy 50/50 - $50 - I have heard that the Skullcandy INC brand are absolute garbage however this is a different product line and apparently they aren't too bad. It seems to be the opinion of people on the web that there are much better headphones for $50 but they don't sell them at these stores as far as I can see (at least not the stores I am at).

2)  Sol Republic i-4 AMP - $60 - These look to be of higher build quality. It seems to have decent reviews online. Apparently, the mic provides excellent quality for those on the other end.

For $50 there is no much difference between the companies .

Most of them have the same sound frequency and quality.

if you will be lucky enough maybe you find one on sale  more expensive head set which is better quality.

Sennheiser , CX 300-II  > also good choice since they known to have better sound quality then creative.
Creative, MA330 > i use them for 4 years and never had trouble.

Never go Skullcandy. It's not that they're necessarily bad headphones, it's that you're paying as much for the designs and the name as you are a decent set of headphones (same dilemma with the new Dr. Dre sets; half the price is because his name is attached).

I've used the Sennheiser's mentioned for years, and even though I now use a stupidly expensive pair (gift) the difference in sound quality isn't that big. You can grab them off eBay cheap too, but be careful of knock offs though, there's tonnes. Easiest way to tell them apart is from the headphone jack. It's very distinctive. Look around at averages prices, if it looks like an amazing deal, it's almost guaranteed to be fake. Only problem with them, no mic. A quick bit of research says you'll probably want something like the MM30i, which is basically a CX-300 II with a microphone, optimised for apple products.

Saras:
Sennheiser CX300 II and a 5 buck clip on microfone.

Don't bother with expensive buds, the sound quality isn't there unless you buy the molded ones, but those are expensive and time consuming.

But from the two you're looking at, the Sol's will be better.
