@Showdown:

I guess I'll put it in a spoiler, but next episode should answer our questions about this.

They did not fail but it was not very satisfying... Would have loved to see the implications of the revelation had on that human society.

I was afraid all along that they'll kill Satoru as well and my OTP wouldn't come true D:
But I guess I liked this kind of an ending. Something bright at the very end.

Anime overall was awesome. Something you don't see often these days. Deserves 5/5 rating.

Sounds like "season 2" to me @newy!

Excellent! Every part of it was excellent! Even the ending was terrific.

Yeah, I agree. It was a really great anime, but personally I really found the ending to be lacking. I really hope there'll be another season continuing on the story, because it feels like it left loads of questions unanswered. That queerrat revelation being one of the biggest.

All in all, I'd say 8/10. I really loved the unique and interesting world, it had a lot of depth to it, and discovering how everything worked was very fun. The story was really good too, especially with the dark twist it took about halfway through. The animation was pretty shoddy though, and the ending could perhaps have been better. But it was a great show nonetheless.

Looks like I was right about Death Feedback but it still leaves the question of who killed Kiromarus army.
Anyway great series.

How intense does the Yaoi get in this show? I'm fine with it if it's subtly portrayed, but if they show them making out with tongues and shit I don't think Ill enjoy it so much.

If you are worried about that, you might as well give it up.  There as some light contact, but I'm pretty sure no shit.

One of the genetic alterations that went into the modern human was that of the bonobo chimps who, being human's closest genetic relative on the planet are known for their diverse and plentiful sexual combinations to relieve all sorts of tensions, though the females tend to dominate.  I think all or most of them experiment with same-sex relations, as boys and girls both, often,  go through stages where they are more comfortable around members of the same sex, but I also got that most if not all ended up in cross-sex relations for reproductive purposes.

Certainly learning to fuck as a reaction stress and tension instead of getting violent seems like a better solution in general, especially when they appear to be having a hard problem keeping the species alive.  But that's also the reason why, out of practicality, most would end up in cross-sex relations -- but a complete lack negative church programming around sexuality seems to free them to experiment freely in their youth with seemingly no social or emotional baggage or guilt surrounding their sexual explorations.

Certainly if you are afraid of people not programmed with fear of same-sex (not fear necessarily as from being hurt, but fear of social stigma being as great a contributor to such as any other aspect) relations as you have indicated, it may make you a bit uncomfortable, but it's not hentai and certainly suitable for teens.

Looks like I was right about Death Feedback but it still leaves the question of who killed Kiromarus army.

Why?  It was the red-haired girl who thought she was a queer-rat -- so killing another species would give her
no pause -- I think Kiromaru even said she used her Cantus to disarm then destroy them.

Would have loved to see the implications of the revelation had on that human society.
I doubt there were any, as I don't think it was propagated to others.  I was ethically forbidden to examine
the genome -- so I doubt they'd spread the news around.

While it was not a bad anime, and was a well told and well constructed story, it really gave me a sick feeling at the end how those with power supposedly limited themselves -- to live w/humans, BUT, in the end changed those humans into sub-humans so they could still have total power over them....a sick but not unrealistic view of humanity......

*shiver*.

I guess there are many ways to play a decisive role in a battle for a human with cantus, and some of those do not imply killing anything, just protecting or moving stuff around for example.

Well, there are tons of way a human with cantus may

Yaoi is present like 1 episode out of 25, and it's more about hugs and quick kisses. You cannot really consider it as Yaoi in the end.

Yes but the show strongly hints on the fact that they where killed by cantus.

Squealer's Army killed them. The Cantus was used to block all the Giant Hornet weapons, and possibly to shield Squealer's men.

Why didn't Squealer use Redhead in the first battle? Because the humans would be watching, he knew that, he didn't want them to know what was coming.

Redhead thought she was a Queer-rat, not a human at all. That's why she could kill humans, but NOT other Queer-rats. She simply blocked their weapons. The mutilations came from the soldiers, or perhaps after they were dead she messed the bodies up?
