If you are worried about that, you might as well give it up. There as some light contact, but I'm pretty sure no shit.
(click to show/hide)The name queer-rat came from a Japanese kanji that showed 2 men in a 69 position -- indicating the queerness (using the original definition of the word) of the creature in it being created from a queer union of man and a man-like naked-mole rat -- just enough of the naked-mole-rat's DNA to make it look non-human enough to not trigger the death response even thought genetically, it had the same 23 pairs of chromosomes as humans.
One of the genetic alterations that went into the modern human was that of the bonobo chimps who, being human's closest genetic relative on the planet are known for their diverse and plentiful sexual combinations to relieve all sorts of tensions, though the females tend to dominate. I think all or most of them experiment with same-sex relations, as boys and girls both, often, go through stages where they are more comfortable around members of the same sex, but I also got that most if not all ended up in cross-sex relations for reproductive purposes.
Certainly learning to fuck as a reaction stress and tension instead of getting violent seems like a better solution in general, especially when they appear to be having a hard problem keeping the species alive. But that's also the reason why, out of practicality, most would end up in cross-sex relations -- but a complete lack negative church programming around sexuality seems to free them to experiment freely in their youth with seemingly no social or emotional baggage or guilt surrounding their sexual explorations.
Certainly if you are afraid of people not programmed with fear of same-sex (not fear necessarily as from being hurt, but fear of social stigma being as great a contributor to such as any other aspect) relations as you have indicated, it may make you a bit uncomfortable, but it's not hentai and certainly suitable for teens.

Why? It was the red-haired girl who thought she was a queer-rat -- so killing another species would give her
no pause -- I think Kiromaru even said she used her Cantus to disarm then destroy them.

I doubt there were any, as I don't think it was propagated to others. I was ethically forbidden to examine
the genome -- so I doubt they'd spread the news around.

The "death feedback" really was hard-wired into their DNA, I thought it was partly brainwashed in, I was wrong![

Except it was misconfigured -- the redhead had THOUGHT she had hurt one of her own when she blew up Kiromarus and the blood exploded all over Saki. However, she hadn't killed a human, but had gotten confused by the trick of the splattering blood.
This got emphasized when Saki saw the result of her trick -- and saw the redhead dying -- and the reaction started to trigger in her as well -- but she was able to talk herself out out of it. In the same way I believe they
*could* have talked Redhead out of self-destruct had they tried -- as it was obvious after her revelation, that
she was out killing the queer-rats who raised her, for their betrayal -- and that wasn't triggering any problems.
--- Quote --- #3 Too bad Squealer, you're NOT human at all.
--- End quote ---
He was entirely human right down to the same number of chromosomes -- with animal DNA inserted to make
him a Chimera -- It's not even as different from a donkey as is a burrow -- as they have different numbers of
chromosomes. The only other living creation that had 23 pairs of chromosomes, according to Satoru was a Palm Tree. That's a fairly unique number.
While it was not a bad anime, and was a well told and well constructed story, it really gave me a sick feeling at the end how those with power supposedly limited themselves -- to live w/humans, BUT, in the end changed those humans into sub-humans so they could still have total power over them....a sick but not unrealistic view of humanity......
*shiver*.

Anyway great series.

I guess there are many ways to play a decisive role in a battle for a human with cantus, and some of those do not imply killing anything, just protecting or moving stuff around for example.

Well, there are tons of way a human with cantus may

Yaoi is present like 1 episode out of 25, and it's more about hugs and quick kisses. You cannot really consider it as Yaoi in the end.

Yes but the show strongly hints on the fact that they where killed by cantus.
Quote from UTWs translation (which I have no idea how accurate it is)
(click to show/hide)"Most of what remained of the Giant Hornet soldiers where severely mutilated, to the point where they were reduced to lumps of flesh."
They then discuss if it could have been done with bombs but because the weapons where not damaged Shisei conclude it has to have been done with cantus.
There are also a quote later by Kiromaru about watching his army get destroyed by the fiend but I don't have time to look up the exact quote atm.

Squealer's Army killed them. The Cantus was used to block all the Giant Hornet weapons, and possibly to shield Squealer's men.
Why didn't Squealer use Redhead in the first battle? Because the humans would be watching, he knew that, he didn't want them to know what was coming.
Redhead thought she was a Queer-rat, not a human at all. That's why she could kill humans, but NOT other Queer-rats. She simply blocked their weapons. The mutilations came from the soldiers, or perhaps after they were dead she messed the bodies up?
Important detail in the spoiler:
(click to show/hide)I think Kiromaru was wearing Satoru's clothing when they make their break? That's why Redhead fell for their trick. He then revealed his true identity, and it was game over for Redhead.

(click to show/hide)Yes, that's correct. He disguised himself as a human, and the 'fiend' then killed him because of that. Then when she realised he was actually a queerrat, the death feedback kicked in, because she thought she'd killed one of her own kind.
I'm not sure what happened with Kiroumaru's army, though. It was definitely made pretty clear at the time that it was annihilated using cantus, but I don't know how that could have happened.
