My thoughts on what happened to Kiroumaru's army:

Remember the episode that had the balloon dog appear at its end? I remember the group saying something along the lines of killing queerats from a distance looked kind of like killing humans, which is why it kind of affected their escort. My guess is the "fiend" did it the same way against Kiroumaru's army.

Show had a very nice story, felt like they could add a bit more but I think that's asking for too much. Hope they fix the animation problems if there is a BD release.

The Giant Hornet soldiers were disarmed by Cantus. Once disarmed they were slaughtered by Squealer's Robber Fly army.
1:15 Ep.18: None of the GH soldiers had ANY weapons. Except they found spent arrows.
7:00 But none of the arrows were damaged, they were stopped mid-flight by Cantus.
So the GH started out with weapons, fired some of them, then ALL their weapons were removed. It's possible that Cantus was used to do other non-killing things, like freeze them or push them down or something, to make the slaughter even easier.
But Redhead couldn't have killed the GH soldiers herself, she would have died.

You are still not adequately explaining the "severely mutilated, to the point where they were reduced to lumps of flesh" quote. I don't believe in that they mutilated them after death, that makes no sense, there are no reason for it.
The weapons are a side track only used to explain why they could not have used Weapons of Mass Destruction to kill the army. Remember we are talking about an army of almost 100.000 troops here, a couple of blow fish is not going to be enough even if they could get out of the water and fly to the army.

And no the argument that she first disarmed them and then they blow the bomb does not work. There is nothing to indicate that they actually had access to that kind of weaponry, if they did why didn't they use that against the humans?

Yes, even disarmed the Giant Hornet troops would have killed a few Robber Flys, but they didn't. But Redhead couldn't kill another Queer-rat, or she'd die herself! There's nothing to prevent her from mutilating the bodies AFTER they're dead to TRY to cover up the use of Cantus, since it was important the Humans not suspect what was coming. They did use Blowfish against the humans, with devastating effect.
First battle: NO Robber Flys because the humans were watching. Second battle: a secret, surprise attack where Cantus is used to disarm and somehow immobilize Giant Hornet's army.

It all comes together and makes sense by the end of the show, trust me. It just takes a slightly twisty route to get there.

man this is really disappointing. Not just Maria and Mamoru disappeared but the way they died was STUPID! And their child died in result of thinking they killed their own kind ... I understand it's a psychological thing but what the fuck is all this shit. Right when Maria and Mamoru went off, the series went really well .. and then shit hits the fan once you hear about how they died at the hands of that DISGUSTING PIECE OF SHIT- FUCK YOU SCHMUCK MIDGET! - (felt better saying that) ... wow this is disappointing ........... but what not, most of this crap was rushed towards the last episodes. There wasn't enough room to seal up some of the loose ends. The only two things I admire are the characters and story ... the story, at least from their perspective and if you compare it to reality rather than miracles is rather good, but that one fucking part ... Maria, Mamoru and their child ... they could have done better.

urgh .................. I feel like I wasted my time ... but then it doesn't feel as strange either, I don't know. I need something else to watch and forget about this.

I'd say that trying to remove the DF would trigger it, thus killing you before it could be removed? Otherwise it does seem likely that someone would have done it (or at least tried to) before. Must be VERY hard-wired in the DNA...

Ok, I want the 480p version of this (due to size and download time limitation). Why was HS 480p accepted over UTW's XviD on BBT? Did they prefer HS cause it was .mkv format and UTW's was not, or that HS was better than UTW in terms of video, audio, subs etc?

HS had better 480p video quality. The subtitle scripts were more or less equal in terms of quality.
