The mystery boy? He's the boy who walked into the lake. NOT Shun! It never said he died now did it? This would explain a lot of things, and give hope for Maria and Mamoru's survival.

Just started to watch this anime (5 eps) and i really enjoy it, it is prolly going to end straight in my top10. The feeling i get reminds me a bit of Mushishi, i really do like the drawings and we got a strong story line here.

There is also this mix between super cute mature kid characters like Saki and serious/deep anime plot, that's great. Can't wait to watch the next episodes !

Loved this 18th episode although i don't understand how they can have this overconfident dumb chieftain when the #1 rule of the community is to be careful with everything.

Based on earlier episodes it takes until at least around 8-10 before your power manifests and then it takes some times to develop it enough to do powerful stuff with it. Not saying it's impossible but it seems much more likely that it is Maria or Mamoru than a potential child of theirs.

Also, weren't the bones only returned a matter of months after their disappearance? That's a very short time in which to get pregnant, have a baby, die, then completely decay so nothing but the bones are left. It seems more likely to me that the bones are fake, and there is no child.

9 months is a matter of months. Eat the flesh off the bones. I'm sure the rats have no problem eating gods. Certainly not Yakomaru. But yeah, gramma possibly could, but if she could do that for others, why has she not done so for anyone else? I think you need a deep understanding, one which cannot be made on the body of someone else. More so for someone you have never actually met. But that is just a guess. And if it isn't the child of Maria and Mamoru, who is giving his/her power to the rats? Who is a traitor? And it would be someone full of hate. Gramma said something about not having felt so much hate since the demon incident way back when.

If both Maria and Mamoru are both still alive, they could have "doctored" some bones with their own DNA, eh? Magically altered them to match their teeth & etc. Of course a skilled person would be able to tell that, one would think, but perhaps she didn't look too carefully?
Perhaps one could rip out one's own bones and use magic to heal? Icky but effective!
I still think it's the boy who walked into the lake who's behind the Robber Flys... or perhaps those two trouble-making colonies?

Their philosophy is not about knocking people, even if it's for their own good. If i remember, from the beginning they've never used any form of physical strenght and using their cantus against each others is of course highly forbidden.

I don't exactly understand how their "power" is working.

Are they all able to fly, transform matter and move objects the same way ? I thought some of them could only do one of those thing: Satoru is good at throwing rocks and shaping mirrors , Maria can/could fly pretty good, and in the last episode (20) i just noticed Saki is also able to rise in the air, and pretty high.

I'm asking because i remember Satoru was teasing Maria in the first episodes, about how bad she was at mastering a specific aspect of her cantus, but maybe it was only because they were just children back then.

Now that they're adults they all have access to the full library of skills ?

I don't think it's a spoiler after 19 episodes... (I hope!)

As for "magical ability" it's like the Decathalon: ALL 10 events. If you're the best overall you're the strongest magic-user. But you can be good at some (shotput and javalin) and still suck at others (high jump, marathon). Oh sure, you can still run the marathon... in 5 hours!
So as a child you try to imporve your weaker subjects, but as an adult you seem to be expected to do a little bit of everything (while your career focuses around your strongest magic abilities).
