^But his problem is more due to lack for storage. :(
What else do you suggest?

Yes, that is allowed, but why would you even do that? Sounds like a waste of time to me, and if you think about it, completely defeats the point of keeping a ratio. Just stay on the public tracker.

Because, contrary to the opinions of some posters here, I do actually want to help seed. I also want to start uploading my own torrents at some point, as there are a few not available on BakaBT (season 2 of Rinne No Lagrange for example).

Archival practices, for starters ;D.

You need a place to archive stuff. :)

Ah, but the side effect of archiving is that one can find duplicate or useless junk to delete.
Don't believe? I've only really needed to use maybe 600G until 2011. I collect FLACs.

Create a document on your main hard drive for what all you have downloaded. Whenever you are about to download anything new and unsure of yourself just do a check on that maintained list.

I guess MS-Excel would be good enough for it. But i dunno if it can function like this.

Edit: I collect 1080p's which aren't upscales. :D

I have lol. I just don't find it useful anyway, because file names are usually different.
Have I mentioned I also do tons of re-encoding? It gets really hard to track afterward.

Well then it's tough luck. But it is a good option for someone who doesn't do stuff like you do.
Let's stop going off-topic here too. :)

Not exactly off topic here. The point is, good archiving can save the oh so precious space that can be used for seeding.

I Never really care about space. I just want the best quality which isn't an upscale. :)

There's no such thing as an upscaled music file: that's a transcode .

You can seed on the public tracker too, if it makes you feel better. Privately seeding what you publicly leeched just feels like ratio cheating, whether it's allowed or not. It's a question of morals more than anything.

Also, if you seed publicly, you can just download new stuff at the start of each month, and seed them until the month ends and the tracker kicks you off. That way you can always refresh your stuff every month, while seeding a little bit. Just keep in mind that you really won't be able to seed much at all with 20GB of space.

And of course, it's not like any of the torrents on the tracker really need more seeders...

Wasn't the original point of this thread to help find a copy of bleach from other trackers to seed? My main concern here is how did you intend to seed a 60 odd GB torrent with only 20GB to spare in the first place? I see you have since purchased an external, but you did not have the external at the time this thread was created, so it leaves me a little confused.

You don't have to download an entire torrent to be able to seed. You just set priority for a few episodes to high so they are downloaded first and you can then start seeding those episodes. I would then set the download rate very low, so that my disk space is not used up before I get the new HD. Anyway, I was more interested in knowing how to tell which files are the same and I've figured that out on my own. lol

Yeah I agree in a way, but then I don't really think it's a whole lot different to leeching from another site and then seeding to the private tracker here. The whole public/private tracker thing doesn't make much sense to me, as it seems the vast majority of torrents are available on both. I'd be different if the private tracker had all the very popular torrents and the public one had everything else. Actually, it seems the only thing exclusive to the private tracker is hentai, which I don't have much interest in anyway.

Another thing that confuses me. Why have a ratio requirement when most of the torrents are so well seeded? Oh well, I guess this isn't really the best place for that discussion.

newy EDIT: Don't doublepost.

That's not true when you are warned.

Have you ever thought that most of the torrents so well seeded exactly because of the ratio requirement?  ;)

No, because BakaBT is a pretty well organized site which draws a lot of users. I look at people's ratios on Baka and a lot of them are well over 1.0, which means they are not concerned with the ratio requirements. Anyway, as I said this isn't the place for that discussion. The requirement is there so I guess there's no choice but to try to keep a good ratio. Speaking on which, what's the minimum acceptable ratio anyway? I had a look at the FAQ but couldn't find anything.

Er, that's bad logic.  People have ratios over 1.0 exactly because they're concerned about their ratios.  Otherwise, their good standing would evaporate quickly.  Furthermore, there is no actual requirement to maintain a good ratio, it's optional.  BakaBT is a public tracker, and if you don't log in, no ratio is kept.  Ergo, people who log in ARE concerned about their ratios, wouldn't you agree?

The minimum acceptable ratio isn't stated, because then people will simply use *that* as their target.  A ratio of 0.5 (the threshold for Power User) isn't much to ask, in a P2P community, and considering you don't have to log in at all, I don't see the problem.
