Need help finding torrents to seed
« on: October 06, 2012, 12:22:24 PM »
I screwed up my ratio so now I have to find a torrent to seed from another site. I've decided to seed Bleach as it seems to have the best S/L ratio, but I'm unsure how to do this as I don't really know much about torrents. My question is, how do I find the right files to download so that I can seed them on BakaBT? Here's the torrent I want to seed:

http://bakabt.me/166271-bleach-lunar-db-sgkk.html

I'm currently looking on nyaa.eu for the files but there's a lot of them. Is there a way to search for this particular torrent?

The number of leechers on this torrent is misleading. Many of the leechers are actually partial seeders.

How about seeding all the inactive stuff you have in your list together. With that you'll be out of the hole in 2-3 days depending upon your net connection speed.
After that download shitloads of freeleeches. 30-40 minimum.

Not all at once, obviously.

Depending on the size of the torrents 10-15 is more than enough.

Because those are all deleted. I only have 20 GB on my laptop, so I can't hold on to large files for very long.

Anyway, after spending the last 24 hours trying to find files to seed I've decided BakaBT's ratio requirements are just unreasonable when you have 244k seeders and only 11k leechers. There's no way for someone like me to keep my ratio at an acceptable level unless I download stuff I don't even want to watch and leave my laptop on 24/7 which is just not an option. Maybe I'll come back to this site in the future but for now I'll just get my anime from other sources. It's a shame really, this seems like a nice community.

O.o 20G is almost nothing these days.

Yeah well that's what I have and there's nothing I can do about it unless I uninstall the few games I have. Like I said, these ration requirements are kinda fucked for people like me who can't seed 100+ GB of anime 24/7. I'd love to be able to do it, but I'm just not able to at the moment.

if you don't like the ratio requirements, then don't come back to this site and stick with nyaa torrents. everyone else gets by just fine here, that is if they actually try to seed back what they took. the mods and admin won't take pity on you and they sure as hell don't have time for this.

Calm down princess, no need to get so upset over someone's opinion. Besides, I've uploaded nearly 1 GB for the 25 I've downloaded which is pretty good considering the ratio of seeders to leechers on this site. There are currently 251,089 seeders and 11,207 leechers, giving a ratio of .0446. My personal ratio is .034 which is not that far off.

It's just a lame excuse for not read the rules before you get a warning.
There are many people here with even lower than yours internet speeds, who are quite able to maintain the required ratio.

Ratio of seeders to leechers has nothing to do with your download to upload ratio. You download stuff so you need to seed back, this is the basis of torrenting and this site is trying to reinforce that with some good measures. Id you have so much problems then Why not get an external hard drive of 1TB capacity and seed from it?
Thread for you to help you decide on which hard drive to buy if you are considering to.
If not then bye bye. :)

I'm going to recommend to you what I've recommended to several people before - don't bother being a member at all. You can leech off BakaBT without an account. Since you don't have the means to keep a good ratio, it really is not worth your time to be a member, especially since being a member does not give you a whole lot of benefit.

You just have to learn to search the site without using the site's own search bar, since you can't use it without logging in. You'll also have to learn how the public tracker works (basically, you can't run any torrent past the end of the month without having to redownload the torrent file).

Also, be sure to pick overseeded stuff to leech. Some of the torrents on this site could really use some leechers.

Thank you very much for the advise! I completely forgot you could still download torrents without an account. I only created an account to use the advanced search functions and to have a look at the new releases, but it turns out I'm more interested in older stuff anyway! I wonder if I download something while offline, then log in, if the files I seed will add to my ratio...

Yes, you can, although you would need to redownload the torrent file while logged in or it won't use your private passkey; being logged in on the tracker is insufficient, of itself.  Don't try use both the public and private torrent info at the same time, or you will be quickly banned.

That said...

Look, man, just about every user here has only so much storage space, and has an asymmetrical connection (much faster download than upload).  Your excuses fall flat, especially since they mirror leech after leech who has used the same damn excuses in the past, both recent and long ago.  You quite obviously never bothered to read any of the other posts on this same subforum, FFS and have never read the FAQ, or you'd already know BakaBT is a public tracker, for example.

If it's so damn hard, how come so many users (who DON'T use seedboxes or the like) have good ratios?  Mine - with no particular effort to pick specific torrents for good seeding - is currently 1.847 (3564.16 GB up:1929.42 GB down), with occasional bonus point redemption (2000 or so, so far).  It literally took almost no effort, just time.

Don't expect a pity party or handholding, simply because you're lazy.

If you are downloading anime you need a space of atleast 500GB for seeding purpose+Storage until you finish watching a particular series.
Why the heck aren't you buying an external hard drive since you don't have any drive space?

Yeah I just ordered a 2 TB external hard drive. I'm gonna be eating beans on toast for a month or so but I've been meaning to buy one of these things for a while now anyway.

Yes, that is allowed, but why would you even do that? Sounds like a waste of time to me, and if you think about it, completely defeats the point of keeping a ratio. Just stay on the public tracker.

Man, ever since you learned all about hard drives and externals, you've become really obsessed with the topic, haven't you? It's practically all I ever see you talk about, especially in the help forum.
