I just found the kickstarter page for his new film. Or hopefully for his new film... They are about halfway to their $150,000 goal, which they have to get by the end of the month.

He said he tried to shop this around the established studios, but with the economic situation as it is in Japan, they are only interested in more traditional projects (remakes).

From the little video he posted, it looks pretty amazing. I really hope it gets made.

And why is it labelled with Production I.G.? If it's not him who is soley responsible for this movie I don't welcome this project. It's like a big games publisher trying to abuse Kickstarter to get rid of the development costs...

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

It's a studio with 120 employees which might generate half a million in net income in a good year, not a publisher.  That's like suggesting Obsidian(similar in size and financial performance) is just abusing kickstarter for Project Eternity, yet we all know the publishers they work with wouldn't fund the project.

Afaik, Obsidian is doing that alone, developing and publishing.

And this is a self published, experimental short meant to be shown at film festivals and directly distributed to the backers.
