a few of the other series didn't have native 1080p, i forgot which but when i was lurking in the "offered" page i've read a few arguments about if its good enough, a few of them passed.

I'm asking for an example. Just one would be good enough to falsify the statement "there are no 1080p upscales on BBT." As far as I know, 1080p upscales, or any upscales for that matter, are not allowed on BBT, regardless of how "good" the quality is.

Actually the staff accept upscaled offer, if they are the best quality encode available, if you look trough all the 1080p torrent you will see quite a lot of upscaled videos. What you are thinking about are encoder upscaling content them self, like someone making a 720p video out of a DVD release, while those you see on bakabt, the upscaling have been done by studios.

^ Right
Definitely shouldn't accept an upscale that's basically a resizing of a lower resolution encode.

That is exactly what I meant, actually. I was never referring to studio-upscaled stuff, which, in retrorespect, may have been what the original reference was.

Looks like half is studio-upscaled and half is native 1080p, from what I could gather from the comments.

The TS should know what does a 'true/native HD' looks like. Fine examples are Bakemono (it's like purely animated on computers), Mayo Chiki, EF Tales series. While Motto To LOVE-Ru is questionable. I had read somewhere 32" is the limit for 720p but sometimes it would go up to 60". So with below 32", 720 is good enough. Keep it in mind that you must be 5 inches away with a 42" or larger screens (I can't imagine doing that so I stick with 32") in order to see the 1080p goodness. Though sometimes I do not follow this rule on bbt, because 1080p is freeleech :P Just download what's best for your hardware, what you download today, doesn't matter in the future with today's pixel count and I don't think I'll re-watch a certain series again after 5 years when I buy a new hardware.

My 15'6 laptop has a 1080p display and personally, I can't for the life of me make out the difference while watching something with as little detail in it as anime if I'm not explicitly looking for them.

I'd say that unless it's a >20 inch screen, the difference between 720p and 1080p is mostly negligible and serves only as a placebo.
