Tracker sending invalid data...?
« on: October 30, 2012, 11:17:31 PM »
I haven't downloaded from here in about 3 weeks.. now I am getting this issue after upgrading to Windows8

95% of the torrents I download say "Tracker sending invalid data" and the downloads are all 'red' however I am still able to download pretty fast.

I have no blocking programs or anything.. what could be the issue?
It's been awhile since I downloaded anything yeah.. could it be to do with my passkey?

Sometimes they start off green, and then go red. Other times they just start off red. All of my ports and etc. are forwarded too.
Using uTorrent 3.1.2

I've tried refreshing, rebooting, clearing dns cache etc. Seems that no one else is having the problem..

Thanks in advance.

Try disabling content filtering?

Well, this is new. It should not be a passkey issue - your passkey is either valid or invalid.

Try installing a new client temporarily and adding a BakaBT torrent to it. See if you get the same or a similar error.

Hey,

Windows 8 is okay... I got it for only $15.

Google search "Windows 8 for $15" so yeah it was worth it for me. Seeing as I got it for next to nothing... less than a decent dinner.
Really it's not much 'better' than Windows 7. Though some things have been improved whilst others haven't.

I've just learned to like it and deal with it. At least now I finally own a legit version of Windows and I no longer have to worry about KMS or other bs that has plagued me for the last few years...

I tried another client "Azureus" but I get the exact same problem..
"This tracker is sending bad data"

Could someone reset my passkey or something? Would it make a difference. I have no idea why this is happening...

It doesn't happen with other torrents or other trackers.. :(

You can do it yourself.

Go to this page: http://bakabt.me/settings.php

Under the global tab go to the "torrent pass" section and you should see something called "generate a new key".

So far..

1. Tried resetting my passkey... didn't work...
2. Tried older uTorrent 2.2.1 didn't work...
3. Tried Azureus... didn't work....
4. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling including deleting registry entries.

Guys it's just BakaBT that's throwing this error... what's up? Why is this happening? Can someone please review my account and make sure there isn't a problem. I'm sure all of my settings and everything is fine...

About to try another computer and see if it happens on that too, to see if it is account or computer related...

EDIT: This only happens when SEEDING. Says 'Tracker OK' or 'Working...' when downloading and everything is green. Something has to be wrong with my account.

If you get the same problem in two clients, the issue is probably with the network or with the OS. I assume you did not have this problem before Windows 8, and now you do, so the OS is most likely the problem. I'm wondering if Windows 8's security features are mucking around with the data that your client and the tracker are sending to each other.

I don't have any idea where the error could be coming from

BUT I'm currently using windows 8 as well and have no problems whatsoever. So I doubt it would be based just on the OS.

My first thought was OS, but after reading everything, I'm confused now. I was planning on getting Win 8 soon, maybe I'll hold off and see what happens with your account here, it may, and may not be because of your OS.

Good luck restoring your seed. Have you checked if its actually seeding or just chucking a message? Maybe it says that but is still uploading? Only thing I can recommend is to contact one of the BBT admins, duki3003 or dubkats.

I've since been able to download 3 things that don't throw any 'invalid data' errors... through they bounce between throwing errors and not throwing errors...

1. Flashback
2. Haha Sange
3. Bible Black

Everything else that says 'invalid data' has no peers or seeds connected when seeding. The ones that don't which are marked in the 'active tab' in uTorrent have seeds and peers connected and are uploading as normal..

So it seems that I am still able to upload on some torrents, sometimes the invalid data torrents upload at line speed, or thereabouts for a time like normal. Sometimes they don't connect to any peers at all...

I'm going to contact an admin and refer them to this thread..

EDIT:

Turns out I found the answer in the uTorrent forums in another thread that was posted 2 days ago.
It's the 'Network Shield' process in Avast! Internet Security.

No idea why. I don't need it and I simply uninstalled that process by 'modifying' my current install. Everything works beautifully now.
Sorry to bother everyone and when and if duki3003 reads this, sorry for bothering you mate!

So to anyone:

Windows 8 and Avast! Internet Sec's 'Web Shield' conflicts with seeding and prevents most torrents from seeding. Everything is seeding like crazy now. Good that it's finally fixed. I had 1.5TB of data there that I suddenly couldn't seed anymore after installing Win8 lol. Win7 never had this problem with this specific shield...

Realised this by trying a third computer without Avast! installed at all and there was no issues. Glad it's not my account or the tracker.

Can be locked/solved.

Thanks!

Try this if there is no uninstall option: https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&pvid=f-home&version=1&lg=en&ct=us

Frankly. Norton has the worst reviews of any Anti-virus product on earth...

Uninstall that crap ASAP, and get something more reliable, e.g. KAV.
