Can You Change My Files?

(1/2) > >>

Zoey:
If my only copy of a file is the one being seeded then can the data I have be changed? I read some comments about a torrent being updated after it was posted? How is this achieved? Can the person in charge of a torrent change its contents which updates onto all computers with this data?

Al_Sleeper:
Only if you download the new torrent.

Freedom Kira:
After changing data, the data will hash differently, meaning it would generate a new torrent altogether. Trackers would not recognize the new torrent as the same one.

So, long answer short, no, you can't change the data for one torrent without grabbing a new one (unless, of course, you personally edit the data, or if you run a patcher program/script).

Zoey:
Can I change the file names or folder names of my seeding torrents?

Yes, that is possible, if you just take care.
