Dual Opticals - Switcher or Splitter? Also ...
(1/1)
Tatsujin:
I want to connect my z5500 speaker system to my computer and my PS3. What do you guys recommend? I also have a little understanding of the difference between a switcher and a splitter. Recommend me some good hardware. Also, recommend me a good optical wire. I already have one from 4+ years ago and it's sweet (they don't sell them anymore).
I would like to have the option to switch between the computer and the PS3, or/and to have them both play together at the same time through my system.

Now to the headset question. I'm looking at the G35 Logitech. I want a nice wireless 7.1 channel headset. I need it to be nice and comfy with one of those cool looking power charges that allows you to set the headset on top. What do you all recommend? Budget - 200 dollars.

What you need for that is a mixer, you cannot just put two digital signals together and have the output be the sum of those signals. With analog it's quite easy (it's possible to do with a few resistors), but not with digital.

Here's what I would do. From PS3 Optical-in to your PC sound card, then Optical-out to your BOOM BOOM Logitech. Do enlighten us on what you're using as a sound card.
