S3. Bigger screen, higher pixel density, thinner, lighter, SD card slot, and at only twice the price! :P In reality, unless you really want that SD card slot, there's virtually nothing between them. Almost identical in every other way.

Nexus 4.

No TouchWiz bullshit, direct update from Google, fast, good looking, LCD instead of AMOLED, far cheaper.

Unless you are a carrier loyal sheep and don't want to switch from verizon there is literally no reason to get the S3 over the nexus 4 except for storage (so depending on how much stuff you "can't live without" will decide your decision, although I think it hardly outweighs every other plus). On the downside nexus 4 is sold out everywhere so it's hard to get at least atm

the only problem i see with nexus 4, even with the 16gb storage, is that you can't throw in a flac playlist and call it a day. or a mp3 playlist with a few bits of 720p animes... well lets just say the internal storage won't be enough.

they could've at least added an SD slot though, you could slap in a 64gb SD, bring a spare 64gb SD and call it a day .
i mean, how much cost would've it'd added imho... its a fatal flaw from the eyes of many.

There are many reasons why they dropped SD slot, but price certainly wasn't one of them, it had everything to do with giving a good user experience.

Nexus 4, unless you actually need the extra space, which you most likely don't. Here is a review of nexus 4, that explain and show why it is the best android phone you can buy.

On a slightly unrelated note, I'm quite interested to see if the s4 pro (the one in nexus 4) is powerful enough to decode 1080p 10 bit without shutter.

but most of the reasons stated there were pretty much the OS's flaws =/ like, windows doesn't have that problem, nor does linux to a certain degree if not totally.

The second one was mostly speculation, and it is most likely not a problem, since other OEM will still be using SD card for a while, because it is cheap solution for more space. However the first one comes with a lot of valid points, and it really did give a terrible user experience, with all the management and decisions it forced you to take.

but was it really enough to put the blame on an innocent SD storage? i don't think the SD deserves it, they should fix the OS first, not force people to use what the OS wants =(

As I said, I don't know if they have fixed the OS the handle multiply user with with SD card, the review units first got the update with that feature 2 days ago, so no one have had the time to find out, I guess we will know when the first custom ROM starts to appear using 4.2 multiply user.

USB OTG - learn it, use it, love it. Also, if you are playing flac files then obviously you are an audiophile, so you must be joking when you are inferring you don't have a cowon player (which have SD slots). Or you could just encode to q5 vorbis (which is completely transparent and even if it wasn't, which it is, you'd have to be carrying around some heavy duty headphones with an amp to tell, which brings me back to why you don't have a cowon device) and store more music than you need on your phone. I can't argue with the anime, but I don't like watching anime in public and especially on a small screen where 480p would look the same.

Also, I'm somewhat annoyed by how fast it sold out. I was spam refreshing (slowly, because sprint is garbage) to try to buy one all morning, went to training at 9:00 (apparently the time they went on sale) and by 9:20 they were sold out. Pre-orders should've been a no brainer.

Samsung, for the extra storage. Otherwise nexus 4 I would say. If I manage to get one, I am definitely buying it. The price is just awesome for such a device.

thats because its an example, i don't do the former, but i do the latter. also about the anime in public thing, you'd do it if you're in a group that can relate, apparently theres a bunch around me.

720p will look better on a 720p screen just for the simple reason of it won't blur.

The Nexus 4 features a 4.7-inch display, up from 4.65-inches, and where the Galaxy Nexus has a 1280 x 720 display, the Nexus 4 boasts 1280 × 768 resolution with a density of about 320 pixels per inch.

you'd be more annoyed if your area simply don't have it, nor do they plan to get it on stock, like mine...

Best reason.

Apparently also sold out everywhere (US) in under 50 minutes: http://thenextweb.com/google/2012/11/13/googles-nexus-4-smartphone-sells-out-in-the-us-in-50-minutes/.
Well American people sure are slow at buying. It sold out in less than 30 minutes in the UK. I woke up at 8:58, checked the page, and it was already sold out by then.
