Unable to seed/leech
« on: November 22, 2012, 01:23:16 AM »
I have gone through the rules/FAQs and the Whitelist, and I might have missed something, but, I am currently unable to seed/leech anything, I am using BitTorrent 7.3.5 on mac. If anyone is able to help that would be great!

According to your profile, you haven't downloaded any torrents (or you've only downloaded hentai and blocked others from seeing it).

Edit: Ops, missed that you meant leeching too.
Do you get any error message from the tracker when you load the torrent in your client?

I have tried downloading Bakuman and Amagami - neither of which have done anything.

I do not, the most I'm seeing now is in the Tracker section stating:
[DHT]; [Local Peer Discovery]; [Peer Exchange] -- not allowed

In that case, your information is a bit vague for me.

Do torrents from other trackers work?

Yeah, torrents from other trackers work. Just not this one. (Sorry it's a little vague, trying to be as specific possible).

What about the tracker status message from this tracker, and swarm detection?
Pics might help too.

There does not appear to be a tracker status message - it is just a blank spot next to it.
Also, I honestly don't know what you mean by swarm detection - I've never had this problem before so I decided to not learn much about torrenting programs (my bad).

Like does the torrent show a number of potential seeds or peers you can connect to.

If you don't see that when you add the torrent to your client, then the client's not connecting to the swarm. Can you try a different client? I'm guessing port forwarding is not a problem because other trackers work for you.

So to clarify, you see something like "tracker.bakabt.me/adhgioefklajdkljfeuhg29015yhgidhga" with no message next to it? Check that your firewall and BitTorrent's settings are not blocking connections to the BBT tracker specifically. Also ensure that PeerBlock is not blocking connections to the tracker, which is a known issue with the Paranoid list.

If none of that works, temporarily try another client on the Whitelist and see if you get the same problems.

I can see the number of potential seeds and peers, yet it does not connect.

Checked my firewall and it's not blocking the connections.

I will attempt it with a different program on the whitelist. If it fails to work also, I appreciate all the help!
Thanks!

Right, as you see a swarm but can't connect, it was either a firewall or the client. :)

If a different client worked, the problem is clearly something blocking your old client's tracker connectivity, and specifically with the BakaBT tracker.

Are you going to just live with using two clients, or do you want to keep trying to fix the issue?

In all honesty, I think I'm just going to switch over to the new client entirely. Even though I've been using a client that is whitelisted, this other one works just fine, if not better than the original client. But, I appreciate the help I've received here!
Thanks!!
