Relocating files on Tixati
« on: November 24, 2012, 11:20:50 AM »
I just switched torrent clients from uTorrent to Tixati, and I'm wondering how to relocate files. I've got some files I'd like to help seed, but I got them from a different source so the filenames are different.

In uTorrent, I would've used the Relocate File option, but I can't seem to find a similar option in Tixati.

Right click torrent > Local Files > Location > Move...

Edit: Ops, you didn't mean that one (I only read the title first). I'm not sure, then, other than renaming the files themselves.
Edit 2 (I know it's silly, but I don't want to surpass 1337 posts right now, because... cookies):
Haven't tested it right now, but Tixati has two options in the right click menu:

a) Local File/ Location
b) Local File/ Rename

A combination of those two should work, I think.
I seem to have stored a deprecated version (1.86) of the portable Tixati, which doesn't have "Rename" as an option :P
It's great that they added it.

I was under the impression that only uTorrent had this feature

Never bothered with that option in uT, what is it? (Can't find it at the moment too) If it's something like moving files to another location after having finished then

Settings > Transfers > Local Files > tick "Upon completion, move to this location:" > select a location

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

(Apologies in advance if this seems confusing -- English isn't my first language.)

I can't remember the exact name for it, but what it does is sort of allow you to re-assign a specific file in the torrent to a different file you have. I've already uninstalled uTorrent so I can't verify the command name.

For example, I downloaded the Zenki series off of a different tracker a while back and renamed the episodes to fit with my way of organizing my files. Then, when I joined BakaBT and saw that I had the same files as the ones here, I pointed uTorrent towards my files, set the equivalents for each file, used Force Re-check, and started seeding.

I was wondering if Tixati had a similar setting, but apparently it's something uTorrent-specific.

The option you suggested moves all of the files after completion. That exists with almost all clients.

OP is looking for a feature where he can rename or move specific files in a torrent and still seed them.

Right you are. I haven't explored very many clients (around five), but I have been unable to find a similar feature in any other client I've tried.

For future reference the command/option/feature is called Relocate.

As this issue has been "handled", I'm closing this thread.
