How to rip Anime DVD?
kitamesume:
...
im simply saying you should ask someone who knows directly, instead of asking everyone else and hoping someone knows.
what you're doing is akin to asking your classmates of what the prof said, hoping that someone payed attention, instead of asking the prof himself.
like, come on, stop doing stuffs in such a round about manner.

I think this would've turned out much better in the Playback Help section.

Blubart moved it for some retarded reason. I originally posted it here.

I sure hope that's not how I came across, because that was definitely not my intention. Whatever though.

That board is for asking for help with torrenting, and with the site, not meant for help with other things like choosing a laptop, ripping DVDs, etc.
You are asking in the wrong place, but not for the reasons thrown up by kitamesume. Most encoder-people here are running on quad/hex/octo-core desktops and have no qualms using low-crf (high quality), slow settings. They also spend much more time messing with filters and filterchains than on encoding settings. What they end up with is something for which a simple guide can’t be written (or there would be tons out there!).
On the other hand, you’re asking for a simple guide, or a no-playing-around-just-gimme-the-MKV tool. If you’ve seen the other MKV ripping/encoding threads here, people typically ask for help with simple steps, like transcoding/remuxing MKV to MP4, not for a whole DVD-ripping process.
Perhaps a couple of folks here might have tried ripping DVDs with Handbrake, but the majority here either
1) would never entertain the thought of using Handbrake for DVD-ripping.
2) tried it for a bit, went back to complicated toolchains instead (like me).
3) have managed to do it successfully once, but would never waste time doing it again. Would rather find encoders to do it for them.
4) have done it a few times, but relied on so much googling that it’s probably too hard for them to write a simple guide (especially for deinterlacing/decombing).
If you’re asking for help with the tools most folks here use (MeGUI, x264, Avisynth, Subrip, etc), I’m sure there’re plenty of qualified people who can help. If you need a do-it-all program though, you’re likely better off asking on Handbrake help forums or other places where people use them.
