you must not have much for ranging taste in music, or dont mind listening to shitty radio stations.
I need that much music and keep grabbin more i like to check out whole albums from bands not just a couple songs. Give me their discography or a few of their albums so i can listen to that shit.Constantly look for more shit.

I guess it is just personal preference. I don't really understand the whole download every song from every album from every artist thing. You just end up with songs in your library that you haven't listened to in months. / Songs that you don't like very much.

I'd rather listen everyday to each song, and know instantly when it starts playing (Which is still impossible with my "little" amount of over 30 hours of music). I guess I consider music more of an experience to be enjoyed/listened to than a discovery experience.

And I don't have a small taste. I generally have 20-30 songs from each genera that I like and I am happy with those.  :P. And I don't listen to the radio, I find all the ads ruin it :(

see i prefer to take in entire discographies or for some bands certain eras of their work. Like with most bands from classic rock i can grab up to the mid 70s for their work and be incredibly happy. I listen to so much music if i only had 30 hours of music to listen to i would be recycling the same crap so much its not even funny. I personally think i like to try and get into music like people used to you just grab everything you can from an artist an figure out what i like and what i dont and get rid of what i dont. So i know a large portion of the stuff that comes on even if i dont know all the lyrics as it goes i recognize the songs and artist and will typically go through periods of just rocking 1 or 2 bands for like a week and just enjoy their entire discography during that time, listen to the stuff i love stuff i kinda like and stuff i dont like that much and sometimes when you hear shit a couple times it grows on you.

one of the advantages of having huge libraries is that you can group up playlists worth 20-30hrs and play them, you could switch playlists when you get bored of the one you're currently listening to.

usually you end up similar to:
playlist1 = monday
playlist2 = tuesday
playlist3 = wednesday
etc.

and you can't do that with less than 10K library, that is if your playlist is at least 500songs large.

edit: on a note though, about 60% of the songs i have in stock were the kind of "tried it, didn't like it" but still remains on my harddrive.

Your vaguely superior tone aside, the fact you don't tire of the same songs is impressive. Then again, I suppose it depends on how much you listen to music.

SpeedKills:
Using iTunes would be so philosophically and morally disgusting to me that I would probably have to be lobotomized before I even considered it.

!

And I'm not saying that to be with the 'against apple' crowd, I really believe it's a cancer in digital form.

I mean, would you use a video player for anime that only let you use that specific player, DRM-locked all your episodes, and only let you watch them on a TV that was made by the same manufacturer?
