Agni's Philosophy [Final Fantasy Tech Demo]
« on: December 02, 2012, 09:48:57 AM »
Square Enix released something interesting (don't bother with the tagged name, some fanboy hype). I can't confirm what it is, but I do know that everything is in real-time and it's for next generation consoles.

Video.

wow, so you are working for Square Enix that you know it's "real-time" (whatever that is supposed to mean...) working of a platform whose devkits just got released?

aside from the fact that the visuals aren't that great (1080p looks like scaled up <480p) i'm always amused by peoples willingness to interchange the ability of a platform to render a preset lowdetail (don't get blinded by flashy effects) video with gameplay graphics - or maybe it's just me actually expecting gameplay and not just chained together videos, lol!

If it is actually a ps4 tech demo then I don't doubt the graphics look like that because that is what PC graphics have been looking like for a long time. I don't care about graphics though. I wish these trailers would show me some gameplay instead of wasting my time.

If this actually what they say, this is what gameplay would look like. However, the fancy camera angles cinematic atmosphere make it seem just like a pre-rendered movie. Also I don't think there are any games are being made for that engine right now. Its a shame the industry focuses on graphics development more than innovating gameplay.

Wrong this is what cut screens would look like when the processors are not busy with game play as well as gfx.  All real time tends to mean is that the video is rendered at real fps on what ever hardware they are using. ie not prerendered at a lower fps then speeding it up.

It's not a PS4 tech demo, I can tell you that.

I just got back from a long hard work today to read your funny comment. Be more positive rather than negative. Take couple of minutes of your time, blubart, and look over the Official website.

We're almost close to how CGi's are looking in terms of gameplay. Remember back in 2005 when they've previewed some games on consoles and we were like "they can do that?!". Well, we still can't rule out anything until we (gamers) get hands-on with these games and experience them.

I'd love for a gameplay with stunning graphics like that. I'm sure we'll achieve it, but god knows when. Because back in PS1 days - living in that era - we didn't expect us to jump to where we are now, did we? :P We'll be there!

So if you haven't done so, go to the Official website and take a look at the screen shots and take the survey.

There's a video showing the angle (among other things) being changed on the fly. They're not pre-rendered. Given the nature of what was going on in the original I imagine cinematic angles made the most sense.

I'd have to agree that it's a shame that Squenix prefers focusing so heavily on graphical fidelity instead of gameplay.

I don't remember any Final Fantasy wowing me with its "gameplay". I'd rather they spent more money on what makes or breaks those games, the story. Square needs some decent god damn writers. Because with each recollection, it's getting nearer and nearer to the highbrowness and literary qualities of resident evil's Spanish Midget Napoleon.

I just finished FFXIII and yes I do agree on what you said. Most probable answer I could come up with is the inability to go back and see where the character's towns, places, better interactions with NPCs and so on and forth. They've had it almost in every FF except FFXIII (didn't bother playing X-2). I still want to explore more about the world and the changing environment like how it is in FFVI and FFVII.

I made my point in the survey. Hmm ...

Edit -- Agni’s Philosophy tech videos demonstrate character tweaking - Best graphic engine I have ever, ever seen for a character. Very advanced shit. Nice one Square.

Edit -- More on Luminous Engine - fucking hot graphics, cannot own the PC graphics!
