Starting to build my new rig, looking for opinions

<< < (9/20) > >>

Saras:
Also, the 760 isn't likelly to be out anytime soon either.

Waiting is good and I would recommend it. However, only if you're going for the top of the line stuff. I.e. i7-k and a HD8970/GTX780. The mainstream stuff tends to get pushed off too much for my liking. You'll be lucky to get the whole set by August. Hell, the current 660 ti hasn't been out for 4 months as it is.

kitamesume:
i was expecting GTX780,770,760,750 to be the early ones out around march to april, Ti and the lower ends would follow up later on, most likely though the Ti would be refreshed keplers (GTX760Ti = GTX680, GTX750Ti = GTX670)

the table i made up from speculating using the 40-55% difference (actually this should've been the real kepler line if only they didnt hold back the GK110)
(click to show/hide)GTX780 40-55%> GTX680
GTX770 20%> GTX680
GTX760Ti = GTX680
GTX760 10%> GTX670
GTX750Ti = GTX670
GTX750 = GTX660
GTX740 = GTX650sounds about right doesn't it.

edit: is it me or is this thread starting to sound like the 2013 rumors thread =O

Saras:
Sounds optimistic as fuck.

He got his answer by now, doesn't really matter anymore.

kitamesume:
well hey its just a speculation, although everyone knows how god awful is the current GTX650 and below, and that the current GTX680 should've been the GTX660(based from the die size), i'd start looking down on nvidia if they don't do something about it in the next series.

edit: also the TDP, if you check from history, usually the card that gets the top end has a die size of >300mm^2 and a TDP value of >200watts. plus the existence of the GK110 on the server section, well you get the gist of it.

Saras:
The 770 is going to be a bit better than the 680, 760ti than the 670, 760 than the 660ti... etc. The cards of one generation tend to be slightly better than the last generation card + 1 grade. Unless proven otherwise, you shouldn't overshoot your predictions.

The die size and the like mean nothing either. Its up to nVidia to put whatever the fuck die it wants.
