When the poster posted 'ITX' I had no idea what that was. Looked it up and it seems to be the Intel Atom (not sure what AMD's is called) mobos.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-ITX

Mini ITX is simply a form factor (and yes, ITX is shorthand for Mini ITX) for motherboards. It does not define the capabilities of a system, though it tends to limit the amount of stuff you can throw on one because it's so small.

Atom boards are Mini ITX but they are certainly not the only ones. Powerful Mini-ITX boards are uncommon because they are intended more for a little desktop box.

you can wallmount a 40+ pound 42" TV imho.

you mean the buttons? there are some that are located at the middle of the front panel.
[$39.99]NZXT Source 210
[$49.99]HEC 7106BB
[$79.99]LIAN LI PC-A05FNB
[$99.99]Antec Solo

if you're really annoyed by it though, have it side-down like an extra-thick receiver.

edit: or, ignore the buttons and make your own I/O box and wire it into the front-panel header.

Oh I know, and personally I think it's foolish. I don't even have a ceiling fan mounted in my house because I don't trust Gravity :P
Plus good luck proving the mounting system was flawed and your several thousand dollar hardware fell, so now you want reparations.

I like my cases eye-level. Which is why I need a new desk to fit my computers  :-\

Goge, you can usually set the computer to boot on a keyboard key combo (usually CTRL F12). As for ports you should really be using a POWERED Hub anyways. So many bitch-posts about USB devices not working correctly ...until they put them on a self-powered hub.

Audio...fuck it. Unless you feel like re-wiring the USB Ground wire off the audio ground wire, which leads to a buzzing sound when headphones are plugged in to those audio ports.
-And yes I looked it up years ago because my Corsair Obsidian 800D case's front audio jack has it...turns out to save money most case companies ground the USB/Firewire ports to the Audio ground. Case modders fix this by individually grounding the ports....but I don't feel like doing that....besides Stereo vs 7.1 :P

you do realize that a lot of cupboards and shelves are wall mounted right? have you ever heard of them falling?

PS:

this is what gogeta is trying to do, except that instead of a tv, hes placing a CPU.

have you seen the prices of those? just "it" alone is enough to push you out from getting a GTX670 to a GTX660Ti.

cases should stay under $100 if you're going for a PC on a budget, there are tons of great cases for well under $100. once you consider going over $2000 then you can start picking from the pricier cases.

Except that cases and power supplies are basically the only "future proof" components you can get. A good one of either will last you a decade. The 670 and 660ti will be "old tech" in 4 months.

yes but considering you can "get" an equally decent case for "less" why would you push for one which is twice or even trice as pricy?
if you note as well, "under $100" for a case is still flexible, there are a lot of good ones, specially at the $80-99 range.

edit: think - what can you build with a $1000 budget if the person keeps pushing for a $300 case and wants at least an i5-K with an SSD and a GTX670 no less?

Seeing this reminded me....front I/O panel?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&Depa=0&Description=ppssJanlianli20&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL010813&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL010813-_-EMC-010813-Index-_-MECH-_-IANLI-L1A

The V354 is a nice case, but you really should read some detailed reviews of it before deciding. One thing you want to keep in mind for a DIY PC (vs a build-and-forget) is ease of access, disassembly.

I'm using a V354 for home server case, and while it is beautiful as hell and sturdy, the side panels are attached with 8 tiny screws each, and there isn't a removable motherboard mounting plate. Not a big issue... until you need to swap the CPU/cooler and realise you have to remove pretty much everything in the case to get to it. And having to put in/take out 8 screws each time gets old. You could secure it with fewer than the full 8 screws ... but there are more convenient cases around.

If you're into small micro-ATX cases, suggest you also take a look at the Silverstone FT03 and TJ08-E. In particular the TJ08-E is quite affordable and well-reviewed on Anandtech for its performance.

SSD is a luxury item, you should only get one if you have money to burn (literally)
-by that I mean if you could burn the money and still be fine. Then spend it...don't spend what you can't afford :)
---
I never recommend 'Build and Forget' (BaF). But then again I make my money with my computer. So I can't afford to send it ALL in for repair/replacement.

I know of no company that would allow you to say send back the monitor of your BaF. You would need to send back the entire unit that was purchased: K&M, Monitor, CPU (aka case)

Whereas, with a DIY, if a video card goes back you can make a quick run to the electronic store (ie Best Buy). And pick up an emergency card while you either send the damaged one back or order a replacement.

In most cases, sound isolation, better materials, weight, size.

You offer him to the nearest drug dealer and tell him to imagine a powerful gaming rig while high.
