Your favorite youkai/kami anime
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:07:21 PM »
So after a 2-year break from anime (don't ask) I decided to rekindle my soul with some series that focus on youkai and similar Japanese folklore, since those tend to have self-contained episodes with often poignant stories (and one of the very first anime I saw was Hayao Miyazaki's awesome Spirited Away) and they also have a lot of varied genres from Slice of Life and comedy (Kamichu! and Nekogami Yaoyorozu) to horror and action (Ayakashi and Ayakashi Ayashi)

I guess this would've been better in the Recommendations forum dunno ^^ but this unique genre def deserves a discussion on its own.

So what're your favs and why? If it's not on the list I'll edit the poll to include it.

EDIT: added a few more

Well, the only one I have seen is xxxHolic so that is my vote ;)

Edit: I forgot I watched a few episodes of Kamichu! but lost interest.

Tayutama
Otome Youkai Zakuro

Are two very underrated ones that should be on the list.

Only three choices make me sad. I've seen over half of those and love most all of them.
