My co-worker had better criticism and he acknowledge the fact that the brand new squads had 0 experience with fighting and were between the ages of 15 to 17 (through the beginning of the anime). But I'll give you an advice.
Stop wasting your time and our time and go do something more valuable with yours. If you ought to not like SnK then might as well just let it all drop. Skipping almost any part in SnK will hurt proper build up and knowledge on understanding the flow of the series. Maybe the series in question is not for you but rather for the majority of others.

Poorest criticism I've read yet.My hamster had better criticism and he just barks all day in aramaic.
We've learned to look over the fact that when the world is about to end we entrust it's future to a 10-16 year old. It's anime.
My advice is stop wasting your time with insults trying to criticise other peoples posts without actually saying anything.
I know you're new to these things called forums but please try to learn.Look at mrdkreka or Nodame-chan.They at least say something.
I'm horrible at grammar and spacing.Go for those if you really want to make of fun of my opinions when you don't agree with them.
I do not hate the anime.I said it's fine, nice even but it doesn't deserve the hype. It's not the Alpha and Omega of anime. The story while great is not mind blowing with originality or mystery. If you take a look from a "higher" angle or brake the story in it's base components you'll see it's actually derivative.A closed off society, monster outside town limits, enemy amongst us, young protagonist with "unknown" power, etc.The pattern in which all of these are arranged isn't original either.
Don't think it's angst, it's despair. They are not saying "omg,if we lose we're fked".They are saying "we're fked and now we're doing this to get unfked".
It doesn't seem like much of difference but it is.I can't explain it properly but I'll try.
With angst you hope your characters won't die. With despair you know they will and now you're just watching the slaughter and get surprised when a few manage to survive.Problem is you've already given up hope and given up on the characters.
I can name many and we both know it.
I'm not skipping through because I don't like words and just want to see punching.I'm skipped through because they talk so damn slow. They are talking alot without actually saying anything of importance.
Character development? Where the hell is that? Episode 1 characters are the same as episode 25 characters.Only development I can think of is that guy that decided to go with the scouts instead of guards and that was a decision based on experience and not a change of character.
Maybe I'm not seeing the subtle changes.I'll admit that I didn't care enough to analyze their interactions.Name the changes they experience.
And now it's a wall of text....
Still there's too little wall crawling for a Spidermen anime.

Well everyone has their opinion's. But I think the pace, the story, angst and everything were as perfectly balanced as possible. And kudos to Studio for coming with such nice animations. (of course, some TV's scene were awful, but BD's seem to fix everything of that sort as far as I see). I now know what those guys at Production I.G. were guarding so secretly for past couple of months before this series came out. (I read a reporter's article and his visit and full tour of Production I.G. studio, they showed him mostly everything but he was threatened not to reveal some stuff they were working on).
Personally I am giving this series a 10/10. This is only the fourth anime I would rate it that high (I am sure I have already watched at least around 300 even if my MAL says otherwise)
And as usual for some nice interpretation. (click to show/hide)

Of course it can't be fully original, and there is quite a lot of mystery. In the manga they also point out, that even if they somehow managed to kill all the titans, would they even have solved anything, when they don't know the cause of it?
Nothing is original if you brake it down into its base component, but the funny thing about what you are stating are that they aren't actually the whole truth, but I can't say more without spoiling the anime.

A couple of things. When I say angst it is because that is the category this anime lies in, and it is the feeling that most of the characters are feeling.
The problem with calling it despair as your definition is the fact, that it will classify shows like GoT as it too. But this isn't really worth discussion much more, since it is just categorizing, instead I see that you don't like despair anime, and lets just leave it at that.

And you also know that you can skip through it with ease with those you are thinking on. Quite often skipping is possible, because they need to build suspense up.

Lets take the female titan arch in the forest, if those characters haven't said anything to create a personality nobody would have cared if they died. I can see what you mean, but I don't agree that they are talking to much, they might spend a bit to much time just standing places without moving forward, but you can take it as there hesitation they have because of the titans.

What about Armin character development? Anyway this is a problem when the anime can't adapt all of its source, there is also quite a lot of character development going on that wont be revealed before later on.

I actually quite like the 3DGM gear, because it is actually quite possible to make. This is one of the area where I'm mostly impressed by the mangaka to make something that fits so well with his titans, which is the second best part of SnK.
Anyways it isn't that you think the anime is bad, it is more that it isn't to your liking, and I doubt I can convince you otherwise. I'm also of the opinion that the anime with its 1 season, doesn't stop at a good place for it to being able to stand alone, but it will hopefully change in the years to come. The animation is good (in the BD) and the OST is also well composed.

I can't take anything about this seriously if you truly skip in the episode. What a giant fuck-you to the people who made it. It's one of the worst things you can do when consuming entertainment. I know a guy who does it too, and it's insanely frustrating to see him do it.
I mean, if you're skipping why watch the show at all?
--- Quote from: Mimishiki19 on October 02, 2013, 09:31:18 AM ---The combat animations were lacking as well. There were some good fights but most of the time you have: talking, someone uses 3d maneuvers to move around, talking, talking, someone uses 3d maneuvers to around but from an different angle, talking, talking, talking, hey look it's a titan let's talk about it half of the episode....talking, finally some attacks with 3d maneuvers....cliffh anger.

I'll admit that some of the 3D gear scenes were kind of "unique", but that only goes to show the level of ambition that they strove for. And I fully support it.
--- Quote from: Mimishiki19 on October 02, 2013, 09:31:18 AM ---The anime is...nice.Though it doesn't really live up to it's hype.I've said it at episode 1 and I'll say it again: The pacing is killing the enjoyment.I wish those were it's only flaws but they're not.

Cam you elaborate what you mean? What bad pacing?
--- Quote from: Xycolian2332 on October 02, 2013, 08:51:24 AM ---Episode 5 was the pinnacle of SnK imo. One of my favorite episodes of anime ever.

Still a lot of amazing eps after that, in my opinion. But yeah, the opening of that episode was fucking amazing.
