cant believe they really went to the basic, well at least its just an introduction, wish the execution scene wasnt distorted like that but whats done is done, just hoping of good creativity on the next cases and execution style

Now I was wondering why would monobear be batting although the balls were being aimed at the person being executed, that's when I found the scene from the PSP game here, things to note are: The scene was mostly reused from the game, except the button pressing part seemingly reanimated. Also the scene got a bit censored in airing, I hope that doesn't carry on to BD.

I'm curious about these trials.

1. Does everyone have to come to an agreement on one person as the perpetrator in order for the trial to end? Or can each person vote for someone different?
1(a). If the latter is true, then will the killer be punished (executed) if only 1 person votes for them?

2. Would the killer be punished if they used their vote on someone who didn't commit the crime? If so, that's pretty stupid.

I guess it would make sense to allow voting for different people, but considering that implicating the wrong person as a result means all the innocent people are punished, the innocent people aren't likely to settle for a risk of being wrong.

Is it just me, or is the videogame aspect of it a bit forced (Bullets and clue finding). I don't mind it strictly following the plot but it feels really awkward.

You are wrong. Whole thing was remade because of the PSP's native screen resolution.
For example, Leon's hand is moving while being pulled away - you won't find it in PSP original.
There are also slightly different camera angles at the scene of "balling"

AFAIK: And it's just a guess, I haven't played the game:

If the killer is not 'convicted' (by simple majority? I guess so, no way the killer would vote for his/her self!!) then ALL the others die and he/she goes home.

That's why helping someone else get away with it is stupid; you'll die! Unless self-sacrifice is your 'thing'...

So each trial will end in "snuff p0rn"? 
Hummm, this show may not be worth following if it doesn't get better, fast.

I shall proceed to give myself a pat on the back for guessing the room switching, Chihiro being a trap, and one of the victims' notebook being "borrowed". But I have to admit I really thought it was Fukawa who killed after finding out Chihiro's a boy, and not that Togami was just making a statement by messing with a dead body. Even if I did manage to pull off a better guess next time, I'll just be accused of playing a game I didn't.

The punishment felt like meh to me, just didn't click at all.

I just realized the last scene in the episode means one of the students is in on this whole charade, I'm so slow tonight...

It's funny how the one who suffered the most was Ishimaru, poor guy would rather vote himself off than accept his bro was a killer. He will most probably end up at the "victim" side in a future murder at this rate.

They'll need way better execution if they'll keep the remainder of the show as a cycle of "wait for crime to happen, begin guessing game" else I don't think it'll stay that interesting, I mean what happens if they drop down to 3 people? Then it becomes a game of "killer loses" since the killer becomes obvious at this point. Pretty sure Monobear is counting on someone getting away with their murder before it reaches that stage.

3 remaining could come down to a 50/50 guess OR two people were together the whole time so it had to be the 3rd one... Lots of ways "3 people remain" could possibly work out, eh?

So someone knowingly switched the boy/girl change room before the others found it? Anyhow, it had to be a boy who killed... him. The door would not even open for a female, eh? Except that "switching books" was forbidden later... so if someone scouted the scene, switched books and then killed the "trap"?  Whichever female was alone for any length of time did it... that means Touko Fukawa did it!

However: Episode 5 is out and I haven't watched it yet: LMAO!

If this "murder" turns out to be lame? I might be dropping this show...

Yeah, it's only on the PSP. There is no official translation patch, but I did manage to find a forum in which a person does a let's play while translating every line along the way, so I just followed along with that. The PSP game is floating around online as well, I'm sure you'll be able to find it without much difficulty, and play it as long as you have a PSP.

Team Zetsubou released a very good fan translation patch for the game, I actually played the game before I watched the anime and it's really good, the English translations are of a professional standard also, all you need is a PSP running CFW (custom firmware 6.60) to play it and an the ISO of the game to patch.

The translations are very well done and the game is a lot better than the anime.

Just watched episode 5 and I have to say that the pacing is too fast to make rational decisions or conclusions of the murders.
