NaRu:
Do this. purchase the same drive and remove the circuit board on the drive and replace it on the shorted out drive.

You can't expect to be paid for every god damn chore. It's your family, help them. And really, 7500 pounds to pass the  semester? I finished my semester with a general average of 9.5/10 a couple of years in a row already, and i'm not expecting anything, though my parents do show appreciation. Before complaining any more think of the children in Africa or people poorer than you.

i dont expect to get paid i just get pissed off when my little sister and brother whine when they told to turn off the lights or tidy up their rooms and then get paid for putting up a fuss, or even worse, if they need money they do something good and then go and demand money for it

also, the money i get is a grant/high interest loan from the government which i get paid annually as long as i am at uni (i use it for food and stuff), the downside is that technically i will be in approximately £70k debt by the time i graduate and the interest will be something around 7-10% APR and if anything is just a means to buy food while at uni

i think i badly typed my last post, it reads as if i was an ignorant prick, i was complaining but not in a "first world problem" kind of way more "my parents show extreme favouritism" problem

kitamesume:
why the heck would you put yourself in a colossal debt just to enjoy your life? you'd end up broke as a bum before you even graduate.

your parents aren't playing favorite, your siblings are just damn abusive. the reason why your parents give more attention to your siblings though is because they're younger, you'll understand once you get two or three kids of your own.

NaRu:
When I was younger I had many chores to do and I didn't get anything for it. I didn't even thought of getting money or anything for doing it. My parents helped me with anything they could help me with. When it came to college I had to pay it because they couldnt afford it. I understand how you feel when it comes to younger siblings. My younger sister car broke down and it would cost more to fix it then its worth and she couldnt afford a car. So my parents bought a new car and gave her their car. I never got a free car in my life but it doesn't bother me because I didn't need the help. I prefer to work for something then to get it for free anyways.

Doing chores for your parents should be for them and not to make money.
