It may be easier to hold one handed but landscape provides a much better view when you can use both hands. If you are only browsing in portrait then you are missing out on the full experience.

Well, when it's zoomed in, it's easier to read a paragraph of text when it's vertical, I find. Obviously if you want a wider view of an entire webpage, landscape is better, but for just reading forum posts (which are entirely text), portrait feels better. Probably because it feels odd when there are only a few lines of text on the screen, even though it has the same amount of text as it does in portrait view. I prefer more, shorter lines.
