I played fps hardcore competitively and never had any problems being in competition with some of the best players in the world without using a mechanical keyboard. NKRO again usually not the biggest deal as you get 6 keys with a usb based kb if memory serves.

Well, it's not about the competition, but the feel. After all keyboards are tools that you use at the same frequency as your mouse. Might as well give you fingers orgasms while you are at it.

which for fps involved having most of the keys from the spacebar to the right bound to something cuz i need me some space around my movement keys thanks to large hands.
You know ESDF cluster makes more sense than WASD, since you have 2 extra easily accessible buttons on the left of your hand... yet even knowing that I can't drop the habit myself.

Also, the mere tone for which you speak of an entire group, which consists of many different areas and types of people, discredits any reliability for your words and simply makes you sound like a troll.
You must be new here. That is his regular flow of speech, the tone is imagined in your head.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

mgz, the only reason would take anything you're saying to heart, is because 3 other people said the same thing first, and without spewing profanity every four words.  Also, the mere tone for which you speak of an entire group, which consists of many different areas and types of people, discredits any reliability for your words and simply makes you sound like a troll.  So sorry, much offense was intended, but I consider making such types of people feel stupid a form of stress release
As for everything else, I get that my Electra's aren't the greatest audio device out there.  As for keyboards, I have a Razer Lycosa that has made me happy for quite a while (good two years). If you're insistant on macro keys, I would go for the Blackwidow or Deathstalker, if you're mgz, I would check out the Logitech G13, which is the G15 without the expensive LCD.

I think you are imagining things, I don't see profanity on anyone's posts and trying to see tone in text is almost always imagined.  Razer products are garbage and I always point friends and family away from their products.  You seem to be just trying to make yourself feel better about your bad purchase and in the process being the only troll.

Right, keyboards.

It may be helpful to read this thread of mine from a while ago. Like most of my threads, it only has a few posts in it, but it may help a bit.

Do I sense some bitterness there?  :P

It does bring Das Keyboard brand to the table though, even when it looks like they make mostly brown and blue switch keyboards.

Jk nstgc <3

Someone mentioned macros, I have to say that they seem to be a bit.... superfluous. Most pros for games that I watch don't use them that often, or at least not that many. I know that for WoW some people use them for rotations or just to not have to bind their entire keyboard. I know that I've never used mine.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Well, for those of us that are decidedly not pro, they're very useful. In fact, I would probably say for that reason that they're so useful. Someone that's already so good that they're a professional at a tournament, I really doubt they would need something like that... some tournaments probably even ban that sort of thing.

If someone is super skilled they can perform very complex micro without breaking a sweat over and over, but normal users will have a hard time pulling it off even once... That's where macros come in and close the gap a bit so that those of us that aren't pro can do a little better.

It may just be for ease of use things too, like just making things easier for ourselves. I mean, I could hit a combination of something like (space down) (w down) (w up) (space up), but assigning it to a macro makes it a lot easier for me. And when you get to something more complex that you have to do super fast like {w down}{+ down}{RButton down}{w up}{+ up}{RButton up}{Space down}{w down}{w up}{space up} (repeat over and over) then that macro becomes incredibly useful. Not just for making certain gameplay things easier, but also to prevent stuff like carpel tunnel.

What game ARE you playing Tiff?

I meant that the argument typically used for macros is that "I need them because I'm good". That's what buying a gaming keyboard sort of says, does it not? When you get better at your hobby you buy nicer things for it.

However now I am really looking most favourably towards the Qpad - 85. Mechanical, MX red switches and has multimedia keys. It's too bad Filco doesn't.

the max keyboard nighthawk x9 is the same as the qpad mk 85 except with a braided cable and better all around build quality (they both use the same outer shell)

I'm a big fan of Roccat's stuff, and they have a bunch of different keyboards, I'd suggest giving them a look. They go a bit overboard on the wow look at all this cool stuff but their products are good.

don't forget the price overboard, roccat's good models(flagship maybe?) on my area rarely goes under $100.
