Unable to connect to peers and seeders on only BakaBT torrents, first time user
kascyr:
Hi, sorry for taking your time, but I feel quite desperate now.
First of all I looked through wiki and forum, I didnt chceck every word there is, but I studied it quite devotely, used search, no returns with "access socket" ect. I didn't found either a similar problem explained on forum. If I'm wrong about that please correct me.
My configuration:
-Win7
-utorrent 2.2 - no modifications whatssoever, tried reinstall too, tried other clients too, nothing worked, always 0 seeds and 0 peers
-antyvirus Avira (turining it off doesnt help)
-using peerblock (turning it off doesnt help)
Situation:
After downloading any torrent from BakaBT, with lots of seeders and peers, claimed as freeleech ect. I cannot connect to any other peer or seeder, I tried various torrents from BakaBT, its always this situation, torrents from every other site works.
The notice I get in utorrent, next to tracker (under tracker tab) connection states:
"An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permission"
running utorrent program as administrator didn't help
I'm first time user on BakaBT, i dont remember dling here anything before, I might have so done nonetheless, i dl quite often anime series from torrents and look for them in diffrent locations (usually NyanTorrents, but now that I found BakaBT I'd really like to use it), however I'm sure i didn't go over 25 GB from torrents here, as i remember i tried using BakaBT torrents but it didn't work for me back then too.
My question is what is wrong? Is my IP blocked? But why? Do you need to put some password? Put this torrent security code somewhere into utorrent? I'm simply at loss... please help if you would be so kind to take mercy on this humble soul...
Freedom Kira:
There shouldn't be any trouble with that setup. However, I recall Avira (either Avira or AVG) causing problems with torrenting, and with BakaBT in particular. Also, if you are using PeerBlock, be advised that BakaBT's tracker is on the Paranoid list, so either don't use the Paranoid list or turn it off entirely.
As another suggestion, see if turning on encryption (and only allowing encrypted connections) helps.
Finally, do try just restarting everything. Shut down your entire network and start it back up.

From another thread with the same problem:
--- Quote from: blubart on August 12, 2012, 10:40:00 AM ---both error messages are a result of improperly configured firewalls. either the one on the router, your computer or included in your antivirus software.
--- End quote ---
Although, the last user with the problem ended up saying this...
--- Quote ---well idk what i did, actually i didnt do anything at all but they suddenly became active again...thanks to you guys who tried to help i really appreciate it, but im gonna chalk this one up to divine intervention
--- End quote ---
So... how long has this been going on?
kascyr:
Thank you, both of you, very very much for answering.
Avira turned out to be a problem, I uninstalled it completely after reading your posts, and restarted system, problem is now solved. Its drivers must somehow affect traffic, after u disable them everything works fine.
Hope it will help anyone with the same difficulties in future. Now i can aim for power user! ;]
Thank you again!
Bozobub:
I'll bet $5 you're using Windows 8. This is actually a known bug of Win8, not Avira.
