a good ammount of things in this world are only truly enjoyable if you proceed to disengage critical thought and forget that cumbersome things like "physics" and "logic" exists.

so you stop nitpicking, you turn off your brain, and enjoy a fictional work purely for it's enjoyment face value.

and it works wonders.

I see. So that's what's being argued here.

No it isn't. It's altogether completely different! (I just thought I would get in on the act, lol)

actually, I don't know what's happening in here, except for the big wall-o-text and the fact that people are arguing about the show not being "real" enough.

...or something like that, did I get it right?

At least someone that agrees with me.

Lately I saw that they force drama into the MC's past story, also the slow-paced character development really hits the nail there, they don't go into deep character information they just focus on one basic main plot which lacks action, for the moment, but still, could have been a better start.

Also the ecchi and overly-almost-nude females are put there just to attract some of the older people, to watch the show, I believe it worked since It has soo many "THAT'S MY WAIFU" people on /a/ also in Japan, I thought this will be a good anime, serious, to the point, action packed, good characters but, as always, I am left disappointed because of Japan.

The way that I see it, it's not really forcing drama, it's dual world building. The whole objective of the show is to illustrate the difference in mentalities between the two cultures.

A fish out of water story can only lead to the slow-pace as the character tries to find his place in his new world. Unless characters and plot devices are continually injected into MC's new world, then his way of life is essentially irrelevant. I draw comparisons to Maou-sama to illustrate this.

Agreed. This is the same trap and Maou-sama is working to dig its way out of. I don't particularly mind the prioritization of character/world development over developing the MC's world. Either way would work as long as it's done well. I believe that what happens next episode will determine which road Gargantia is going to stick to.

Remember that the character designs are by a hentai artist. It would be a waste if they didn't dabble in some ecchi and fanservice.

That's every show, every season every time. Hardly anything new.

As long as Mr. Murata keeps Urobuchi in check, then I'm all for the way the story has been laid out.
