Just watched it and you are wrong on one accord: (click to show/hide)he didn't have a near death experience, he died. Dead people don't confess and also nobody confesses that early in series anyway, got to keep that trope in mind. At the moment we have an undead zombie, except that applies to his body only, while his mind is probably digitalized by that mecha and he is transferring it like some sort of virus.
So we have some weird sci-fi mecha with magic and a dash of vampirism. It being aniplex the animation is really good though.
